Guest guest
I don't use yogurt or dccc in any of my nut flour recipes, including the date loaf. I use orange juice for the extra liquid when I make date loaf. I use butter, so haven't also used oil, but it might work OK. Usually oil is used instead of butter, which means you still need a bit more liquid something to get the batter to the right consistency. That's why I use orange juice. Kim M. Guest guest
For the date loaf, could I use water, pineapple juice, would that work. KIm, Dates are an advanced food; they're extremely high in fructose and lots of people have trouble with them in the sense that early on they may re-encourage a bacterial cycle because they are so sweet. That's why they are not recommended for newbies. Mara

Guest guest
Mara, I appreciate the info, however, I am still looking for the recipe. I am transitioning my family into SCD and need to have an arsenal of items ready - my kids attend a nut free school, and I have a lot of issues to contend with. I do appreicate that you are looking out for my health as a newbie, but also would appreciate being able to review the recipe and see if it fits my family's needs. Kind thanks in advance for your help, Kim in NJ transitioning a family of 4 to SCD > > > I've been reading about this, and would ike to try it - where is the > > original recipe for the date loaf? Guest guest
If you are just starting out, dont have thekids on nut flour for a while, as you need to heal the gut, and if the kids are in a nut free school, chances are you wont be able to send it to them. Get the book BTVC date loaf ingredients eggs coconut oil or butter honey yogurt or dccc or pureed fruit almond flour salt dates Mara,I appreciate the info, however, I am still looking for the recipe. Guest guest
>my kids attend a nut free school< My 12 yo daughter is not allowed to take nuts to her school either. I make her food that needs to be warmed up and a teacher does that for her in the teachers lounge and then brings it to the room where the students eat. Maybe if there is some possibility to warm up food at your kids school, the whole lunch thing will become easier. My daughter has chicken curry and things like that for lunch. She loves it!
