Steve, I finally got a Vitamix last spring. It's great for making purees and fast cooked veggie soups and so forth. It does blend the vegetables much finer than my Oster blender. Its power makes mustard-making a snap. However, it's a pain in the but to get your foods out of the bottom of it, and for all the " cleaning " you can do with soap and water in it, I hate wasting as much as a third to half a cup of whatever I'm preparing if I don't have time to spend 15-20 minutes carefully scraping everything out of the bottom. Don't get me wrong: I'm glad I have my Vitamix. But be aware that if you leave skins and things on your veggies, or you don't fully cook them, the only thing you'll be doing is offering the bad bugs in your get pre-digested bacteria fodder. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
