Guest guest
I have UC and have been on the diet for about 3 months with a little improvement. My question is this. Are you suppose to stay on the intro diet until your system is normal? And then move on to other foods? Because from the book I thought that I was only to do the intro diet a few days. I did mine one week. I'm still having the ridiculous urgency, non formed poo(except for once in a while) and lots of mucus. Blood has definitely got lots better though. I am eating the yogurt, honey, apples & oranges (no more than one per day, if that), chicken, cooked veggies, orange and apple juice, eggs, beef, cheese, spaghetti sauce -legal. I really don't think I could do much else without going insane at this point. I'm a real big sweets fan and I'm feeling pretty damned deprived. I do think that I was getting better - so maybe I am in one of those strangely talked about die-off things? I'm so sick of eating things I don't want to and the depends and the porta potty in my truck. I feel like I'm gonna lose it pretty soon!!!! aaaaccccckkkkkk...... Guest guest
Hi : Please don't get discouraged. You are still early on in the diet. You will see that your hard work and patience will pay off. You will feel better and better as time goes on. Perhaps if you try to be more creative with the foods that you can eat, it would be easier. Try adjusting the recipes that circulate on the listserv to suite your particular health issues and your taste buds. For example, try incorporating some spices, making stews, stir frys... You will get use to not eating sweets so much and your body will tell you when you've eaten too much of it. I realize you won't want to hear what I'm about to say <g>, but if you are having a problem with excess mucous then one route is to eliminate cheese and butter and use ghee instead of butter. Maybe the yogurt as well. (google ghee to get the recipe or search the BTVC-SCD archive - it's several months back.) I did this recently and it has definitely helped me in the mucous department - I seemingly had a systemic problem - which gets really bad in the winter, as extreme temperature changes, moving from the cold outside to warm inside meant I always needed tissues handy because of excess phlegm. I'm finding getting rid of dairy has mitigated both excess phlegm and mucous in the stool. Mara

How about cooked fruit? from what I read of Elaines thoughts she seems to see cooked fruit as an important part I try to cook some fruit everyday, my favourite right now is pears cooked soft in a little coconut oil, then I add a little butter and some honey. Cooked fruit is a really nice dessert Cecilia
Guest guest
Hi, Have you considered decreasing sweets (especially from juices and fruits) and amount of cheese that you eat? Have you started taking probiotics? I can share what I did in the beginning of the diet: I had a food dairy and I recorded amount of sweets and fats that I ate until I found the perfect balance for my intestine + added probiotics ( 5 capsules a day). The first thing that I did is to significantly eliminated sweets and believe me it made a HUGE difference in the way I feel..I started from 1/2 teaspoon of honey and then added other sweets. Also, the number of items that you eat a day could make a difference. Maybe, just maybe the more foods you introduce a day the more difficult it could be for your intestine to digest it ( this was the case for me ). Also, chicken soup does help a lot to deal with pain and discomfort .Maybe it could help yo too to deal with the diarrhea... I am sorry I can't be more helpful to you, Subject: So, I'm not sure if I'm better??To: BTVC-SCD Date: Thursday, December 18, 2008, 12:18 PM I have UC and have been on the diet for about 3 months with a littleimprovement.
