Guest guest
Hi fellow SCDers, I just made this recipe from Foodnetwork.com last week and it's really delicious! It's truly SCD legal without modification. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/the-gourmet-next-door/moroccan- chicken-with-squash-and-dried-plums-recipe/index.html Some notes: The recipe calls for a chile paste called harissa, which you'll need to make. Here is a recipe for the harissa: http://mideastfood.about.com/od/dipsandsauces/r/harissa.htm I used a combination of cayenne, New Mexico, and ancho chiles and it is wonderful. I'm sure I'll use it on other things now, too, since hot sauce and chile condiment selections are so limited on SCD (I am not a big Tabasco fan). Next time, I will add the squash a little later in the recipe. I baked my dish for about 1-1/2 hours and the squash was pretty mushy. The marinade is yummy and I can see using it on its own for a tasty grilled chicken or maybe skirt steak. For the second meal I had with this dish (the " leftovers " ), I added about 2 tablespoons of yogurt and stirred it in. Yum! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I'm always on the lookout for unique international flavors - and this one is a great one! That sounds really good and it's great to have the harissa recipe, too. I love spicy read sauces. Mara
