Color of teeth

Granted I go through these phases of a grey hue in my teeth.

It's very odd because it isn't on the exterior of the tooth it's like

inside of it- from the core. There are a couple of other people I

have emailed with that have gone through this including parents of

kids etc (seems to happen more in children but this is just my

observation). It's seems like some odd type of die off -who the heck

knows which species??

But my teeth are very yellow too.

I never had teeth bleaching or any of that.

Wouldn't even consider such a thing!

I went to my dentist for an appt and the hygienist said it's this

color because of foods I am eating like broccoli, kale and green tea.

She said it is staining my teeth..

I floss and brush every night with an electric toothbrush.

I take good care of my teeth as years of Crohn's left me with loose

teeth among many other issues. NOT LOOSE ANYMORE since SCD!!!!

Has anyone else had this happen?

What is a better explanation to this?

Confused about this.

Jodi,

I find that my teeth are more yellow now too. However, I use natural toothpaste and have for years and have been drinking a good bit more coffee/tea sine the weather is cool but they are still much more yellow than when I ate SAD and used regular toothpaste with harsh chemical whiteners. I try using toothpaste with natural whiteners but it just doesn't do any good. Any suggestions on natual teeth whitening would be great. I've tried the baking soda route and that didn't help any.

I haven't noticed Baden on here in a while. Do you know how her and her child are doing?

Hi Misty,

I have a routine at night.

I floss, then brush with electric toothbrush.

Some nights I use a home-made baking soda/sea salt combo to brush

teeth. When I need a really good cleaning I throw some xylitol powder

(scd illegal but I do not ingest any of it) into the sea salt and

brush with that. I find the Xylitol really cleans my teeth like

nothing else I have ever tried (I have terrible plaque and tartar

build up) but I feel the Xylitol contributes to the gray hue issue in

my teeth. I also use the toothpaste from the GAPS site as I try to

stay away from sultfates. The GAPS toothpaste also has garbage in it

but I think it is a lesser of the evils. I have looked into natural

ones for a while now- so I try different things as well. The yellow

though doesn't go away.. Hygienist was trying to tell me to get over

it as it is just a vanity issue.. Still- it bothers me.

Baden is quite busy (with some work stuff, I think so some of her

online time has been cut down) from what I read from her posts on the

GAPS list. She moderates over there so you could go check it out and

I am sure she will wave hi.. She is super informative and nice like

that.. She has a blog too- I haven't really checked it out.. I think

her son is doing a lot better!! YAY!
