Guest guest
My Question: Any suggestions on what foods I would likely be able to tolerate next? Hey there, I just wanted to share some great success I've been having with SCD recently. I started the SCDiet 3.5 months ago and it taken me a long time to sort out which of the intro foods I can use to eliminate my Crohn's symptoms. I was having D 2-7 times a day accompanied with discomfort, gas, bloating and occasional pain and blood. While I felt a small bit better on the intro diet, I didn't see much improvement over time and started eliminating and testing different foods to see if I could find a 'safe diet'. I seem to now have a safe diet that has allowed me to stop D, discomfort and most gas. I now have 0-2 well formed BM's a day and I'm feeling quite positive that things are on a positive trend. Does anyone have any suggestions on what easy foods I would likely be able to tolerate based on the following info? Maybe you've had similar experiences? SAFE DIET Breakfast - blended dry cheese curd, eggs, aruglia fried with peeled zucchini and avocado Lunch & Dinner - Baked squash, coconut oil, baked chicken or turkey, grilled fish, beef, chicken or burger, fired mushrooms NOT SAFE LIST - I'm pretty sure these foods cause me trouble Carrots Any fruits - including ripe bananas and homemade applesauce Any dairy including SCD cow or goat yogurt (I was very careful in preparing the yogurt) Honey Kale NOT SURE LIST Green beans Spinach Almond Butter Asparagus Peppers I also take the following supplements that don't cause problems: Freedman SCD Vitamins (multi vitamin and B vitamin) GI ProHealth D3 Vitamin Probiotics (I've used both Lyosan or SCDophilous) Enzymes (I've used Digest Gold, GI Pro Health ProZymes and a couple Kirkman enzymes) Fish Oil (Barlene's) Thanks a bunch for any suggestions,
Guest guest
Not sure what to tell you to try next because every body is different. You might try just a spoonful of the veggies that you listed as a possible problem but only a spoonful and see what happens. You might want to blend it up in a blender first so that it is cooked and really easier to digest. With a very ripe banana some people find they can tolerate it if they sautee it in butter first. Maybe you could try a spoonful of that also. You could try different kinds of squashes. Did you ever try your yogurt dripped? Without the water it is sometimes easier for people to tolerate. Do you think it causes die off or just doesn't agree with you yet. I would also try some of these things again, in spoonful amounts at first, after a month or so if you don't tolerate it at first. Are you drinking the broths from homemade soups? Just a few things to consider. Katy ____________________________________________________________ Click for free info on college degrees. Guest guest
What symptoms did you experience after eating these items that you are sure you cannot tolerate them.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------My symptoms were generally gas, bloating, discomfort and D. I was getting these symptoms for the last three yeras, and then decreasing ammounts as I tried different SCD combos. It was only when I tried my current safe diet that I stopped getting the D and have less gas and bloating. The biggest indicator for me that I can't tolerate a food is getting D. It took 3 months of trying different versions of even more limited SCD to get to a point where I'm not getting D. I think it usually takes me 2 days to react to a food I can't tolerate.Cheers, Crohn's: Since July 2005SCD: Since Sept 2008Meds: Nothing yet
