Guest guest
I take 1500mg a day of AzulfidineEN as well as 5mg Prednisone. My rheumy would prefer me on Mtx but as we're hoping for kids, that's a no-go. I've been on Azulfidine since the start (Dec. 2002) but he increased it this past spring. I live in Japan and for a while was only given the Japanese dosage (I'm Irish). Originally I was also on Mobic and on and off Prednisone. AnneMarie Japan > Does anyone take Sulfasalazine? Hi, It's good to hear from others. Do you have any problems with the Prednisone? That's the combo I'm taking. I have found the Sulfasalazine helpful except with extreme stress or weather changes. I don't think so, nothing definite anyway. I've put on weight and I'd love to blame it on the 5mg Prednisone, but I just don't know... lol. I don't have a very convivial work/lifestyle, finish work late and then eat late in the evenings, so that maybe it. I originally had mouth ulcers from the Azulfidine but a course of vitamins cleared that up. AnneMarie

Guest guest
I was on sulfasaliazon for a year, it really didn't do anything for the pain. Methorexate really stoped the pain and fast, where none of the others could, I was also on plaquinel for a while too. > Does anyone take Sulfasalazine? Guest guest
I take Sulfasalazine in conjunction with MTX. I originally started with the sulfasalazine on it's own but added the MTX about a year later. > Does anyone take Sulfasalazine? Guest guest
, Do you know if you can use sulfasalzine indefinitely? I started on it last week and it seems to be helping. Why did you have to add MTX? I still use minocin and doxycline too. Thanks, ette

Guest guest
AnneMarie, Do you still take Sulfasazine? How much do you take? Which vitamins cleared up the mouth sores? I have a sore on my tongue but I only started the med last week so I don't know if it's from that. Thanks, ette

Guest guest
ette I have been taking Sulphasalzine for around 2 years I understood the full effects can take up to 3 months to feed through, my rheumatologist said to start to expect to feel some effect after 6 weeks. It definitely helped me but now I have had Leflunomide (Arava) added to my medications I am starting to feel a further improvement. Methotrexate is often added to Sulphasalazine I tried it for a while but the Methotrexate disagreed with me even though my symptoms improved. Guest guest
ette, I don't know exactly how long you can take sulfasalzine but I have been using it for about 2 years now. In talking with my rheumatologist and reading the perscription information I have never thought the sulfasalzine was something short term. I went to the MTX because the sulfasalzine was not helping control things enough and the side effects from the sulfasalzine of upset stomach forced me to take a smaller dosage then what the doctor would have liked to use. I was supposed to work up to 6 pills a day but instead could only tolerate 4 sulfasalzine. --- In , " Warren Portnoy " <wport@c...> wrote: > , > > Do you know if you can use sulfasalzine indefinitely? Guest guest
Has anyone here had any experience with taking Sulfasalazine? I tried taking it for 6 weeks but the more I took the worse the headaches and constipation got. On my docs advice I went off it, now that the headaches and constipation are gone I'm supposed to go back on it but at half the dose. I'm really not into going back on it so wanted to hear any experiences people here have had with it. Thnaks In Advance!
