The majority of gastroenterologists say that the food we eat has nothing to do with our gut health. (Kind of like, Huh? If I breathe polluted air, it will affect my lungs. Why wouldn't eating inappropriate food affect my gut?) Elaine used to tell a story about one gastro who claimed he had never heard of SCD. Except that about 40 people told her they'd given the doc in question copies. Regrettably, the information most doctors get in continuing education is from the pharmaceutical companies. It's not profitable to Big Pharma if we go and cure ourselves with healthy food, and as a consequence, they are frequently against anything which might cut into their profits. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Guest guest
Hi Therese, Thanks for the update on Kayla. Hope she is doing a little better now. Are you cooking everything possible in a cast iron pan???? Can really help. You are in my thoughts. Now that the Holidays are (almost) over, hopefully it will be easier. Hang in there! We're all rooting for you guys! Ellen 11 y/o dd scd since 5/06 for Crohn's med-free for three months
Guest guest
- Hi there. I was one of those heavy bleeders needing a transfusion. I had to puree some of my foods and limit them to just a handful for about 4 weeks. I still can't do spaghetti squash sometimes and it has to be very well cooked. Try limiting to just some of the squashes - there are so many varieties. Remember her colon looks like raw hamburger, so limit her foods and try pureeing some of them - like the veggies. I knew someone that ate babyfood for 2 months. She will improve and will be able to try more foods, but be patient. I am just now eating a full range and sometimes I can't eat certain things. It's all worth it ! CD - 3 years SCD - 2 years p.s. I was also a nervous wreck at that point, but if she can relax knowing this diet has worked for so many people that would help. I am now addicted to Yoga and it works ! wish I had started the breathing exercises while I was suffering so badly. They calm the vagus nerve in to the GI track. -- In BTVC-SCD , " zagorskygoldberg " wrote: > > Hi Therese, > > Thanks for the update on Kayla.
