Help finding grain sources...

Thanks so much for the tip. Unfortunately, Azure Standard does not deliver (without *huge* UPS shipping charges) to MO. I did make lots of phone calls though and I was so excited to find a source for the " new " milo (ie " white food grade sorgum " ). Jerald Simonson in NE (402)879-5731 sells this and will ship 35# buckets UPS. He charges $12 plus shipping ~ not too bad, I don't think. (it ends up being a lot more than the 50# bags of ~gasp~ wheat that I used to purchase (for $18ea), but less than some other GF grains.) Now if I can just find someone from NE who is headed my way and then I can save the UPS cost! LOL!

As to milling, yes, I have milled our own flour for almost 15 years now. You simply can't beat the health benefits of freshly ground grains (many vitamins and minerals oxidize out of flour within the first 24 hours after it is ground.) Plus, it is much less expensive to purchase grains in bulk and grind my own flour. You can also grind dry beans for wonderful bean flours too. The two grain mills that I have used and love are the K-Tec Kitchen mill and the Whisper Mill (now the Wonder Mill). One place to purchase these mills is the Urban Homemaker www.urbanhomemaker.com

Hope that is helpful for someone!
