Guest guest
Long story short, I was diagnosed as hypothyroid last February by a ND. Tried Armour, not a lot happened, she said I had s Syndrome and I did the kit twice. Then I just went off Armour and on T-3, but time release. I was on 120mcg but still not 100% better. On this high dose I did a reverse t-3 test in October and my ratio was 10- but that was using a T3 not freeT3. I got her to switch me to Cytomel the beginning of Dec. She had me go to 5mcg in the with 30 timed release in the afternoon. I did question why this was so low. My hair started falling out, very tired, lots of anxiety etc. Also my temps stayed low (around 96.5) So I added and got myself up to 30 mcgs, started felling better and went back to the Dr. In the mean time I had her read Nick's website- which she did! A lot of it was new to her and she called around to collegues to discuss the use of cytomel at high doses (at least high to her). she found out some people need higher doses and not time release. She took blood work which confirmed to her that yes, I did need more cytomel. Dec. 09 labs Oct. 09 labs TSH 2.33 (.450-4.5) 0.203 T4 3.3 (4.5-12) 4.4 T3 89 (83-200) 136 Ferritin sadly 37 last Aug: 50 RT3 not taken 12.68 (range 6.7-21.8 ng/dl) LH 38.5 FSH 24.6 Estradiol 120.0 progesterone 1.8 We did the sex hormones as I have not had a period for almost 4 months- I am 48. She said it looks like I am at the end of perimenopause. I have been taking rhodiola for adrenal support. I was shocked at the ferritin and am back on iron (years ago I was at 11). Here is my issue. I have worked my way up to 60 cytomel- no issues. My pulse, blood pressure all ok. I do take 25 hydrochlorothyazide and have for 10 years for high blood pressure which I think is related to the thyroid, frankly. should I hold there until my ferritin increases? How long? I want to break through the rt-3. I am frustrated as it has been going on for years, in hind-site. In the last 4 years I have gained 25 pounds and I just can't lose it. On the 60 cytomel, my temp is up to about 97.3 average. My hands are starting to warm up! Since I am a bit out of order for treatment, I would appreciate advice from Val or Nick as to how to procede. Luckly, I can get all the cytomel I need via prescription. THANKS!
