Guest guest
I WENT to visit Bridget in the surgical ICU yesterday evening, but she had just been moved... to the regular floor! She still is in a lot of pain, discomfort and does not feel well. Her first piece of advice for me was 'don't ever have this surgery!' She is up and moving, going to the bathroom by herself, but she is still very uncomfortable. I told her we were all praying for her and thinking of her and were ALL behind her 110 percent! :) She mentioned that the special bariatric beds are hellish -- they are too soft. She prefers the bed she finally got on the 10th floor because it allows more support for her back, etc. I gave her a card and many people got to sign it since I saw quite a few pre and post ops at Dr. Gagner's office yesterday. Her sister and brother in law are there are are very nice and extremely caring. Her sister is a nurse, so she is in excellent hands. They are staying at the Mt. Sinai Guesthouse right across the street, so they can be there for Bridget whenever she needs them. Bridget also mentioned that Dr. Pomp (as well as Dr. Gagner) are considering breaking up the BPD/DS for heavier patients into two separate surgeries: One for the stomach and one for the intestines. They think this may reduce the risk of complications and also be less of a shock to the system. I know everyone will be relieved to know that Bridget is out of ICU and doing better. She asked for continued prayers because she still is in pain and pretty miserable. All the best,
