Guest guest
I'm now wondering about this. My Aunt said she took Synthroid for several years and then her doctor said she didn't need it anymore and stopped her treatment. That was 20 years ago and she said she's fine. He checks her thyroid once a year. I'm wondering about this. If someone is on thyroid treatment for a few years does the thyroid gland shut down completely and then not return to normal functioning? She said she is fine. She did get leukemia though and I " ve wondered if it was because she stopped thyroid treatment.
Guest guest
Depends what caused her to be hyp ointhe first place. MOST hypothyroid people have Hashi's. I htink the last I read it was about 85% If you have Hashi's NO it is progressive and wil only get worse iuntil the gland stops funciotning at all. If oy uhave temporary low thyroid say fomr illness or stress it can come back and function fine. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
