Guest guest
Nicola, Have you checked his ketones? Are they low? Illness coming on is also a good bet. Also, any new foods over the last few days? Medicines for anything? Any slips with the diet? Carolyn, mom to > myoclonic seizures have tripled in the last 3 days , why, what do I > do? > I have kept him home from school today and am trying to fast him.He does not > like this but I do not know what else to do. > I have tried phoning his keto Dr, Dr Helen Cross , but she never responds > and her unqualified secretary just has a standard reponse of saying go to your > local emergency room (they have never heard of the keto diet) or local > paediatrician who assumes we are under the care of the keto hosp and says he does > not know what to advise us. > is not on any AEDs only the diet > Help, Nicola > > >

Guest guest
Nicola, Hang in there! Hannah was hospitalized a couple weeks ago because of a simple flu...but of course, increased seizure activity, which in Hannah's case, leads to apnic episodes. Stress, weather, lack of sleep, and growth spurts can also lead to increased seizure activity. Let us know how he does, you will be in my thoughts today. Guest guest
Crystal, Welcome back to the list! It's been quite some time and I don't recall all of the foods that your son needs to avoid. Maybe you could start by telling us which foods he tolerates best now and what he absolutely cannot eat. Hopefully with that info we can get you on the road to SCD. Guest guest
Sounds like elevated ammonia levels. SCD did not work for my son, but I do believe it is the only way to heal the gut. If I ever go back to SCD, I would work toward broad based supplementation, enzymes and probiotics. All the best, Sharlene

Guest guest
My daughter is having a definate gluten reaction and I am trying to find out what she has had. The only new thing I can track down is a cough medicine that I have been giving her. I have given her the Tussin DM made by equate. Has anyone by any chance check on it? I would but it is now Saturday and that will go on my todo list for Monday. I did not even think about it and am wondering if I will ever think about medications? I have started giving her the club soda to see if we can get this over with for her. She is pretty miserable and has had a couple of accidents so she deifinately is having a gluten reaction. Also other than extra TLC and rest what else should I do? She has had a couple of reactions the last one being at Christmas time but this one is even worse than that one. Thanks, Gluten Free makes me feel good and it taste good too!
