It's partly about replacement foods, as I mentioned in the earlier thread. My own perception of coconut milk, as opposed to almond or pecan milk, is that coconut would be more advanced. And yes, if a person does not tolerate the nut milks, it could impede the healing. We all get tired. <wry grin> There's always a reason behind the stated reason in so much of what SCD is and does. I know that Elaine made the statement about replacement foods more than once. But it's also possible that she was aware of how many people might not tolerate the nut milks in the early stages, and so placed her limitation on it for that reason. Guest guest
Marilyn, So this is what I am trying to understand; So when someone new to SCD comes online.. I see some people take gradual steps to go SCD where as others jump straight into intro.. Obviously there are shades in between this too.. So I would think the person gradually transitioning- coconut milk would be ok? But someone who is doing intro and is actually in a flare- would you hold off on telling them about coconut and even nut milk? If I am understanding you properly this is an individual thing once again- so seeing how the SCD'er is actually feeling taking into account symptoms etc.. That's how you would choose to guide whether or not to go there with the milks? I personally feel totally unqualified to give someone new on the diet advice to go on nut/coconut milk. Maybe I am insecure but I wouldn't want anyone getting sick due to my ignorance or anything like that. Perhaps I err too much on the side of caution- dunno. I would rather just tell people to ask you- LOL. Once again knocking on your door " Uhh.. Marilyn.. Uhhh.. What should I do?
