I was reading that if you take an aromatase inhibitor that it will help it not to convert to estrogen. Dr Uzzi Reiss had some on his site that was a red wine extract and I also read that pomegranite extract is also an aromtase inhibitor. Has anyone tried anything like that? > > Thanks > >
Guest guest
Hi , I would join this group. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/hypogonadism2/?yguid=104711494. They will have more info about testosterone supplementing and the effect on the rest of the endocrine system. Phil, one of the moderators has low Test, Thyroid, and Adrenal due to a pituitary injury. The group has been really helpful for my fiancee. They had a list of things to test for before starting treatment. He's suffering with low Test, borderline low Thyroid issues. His estrogen is extremely high 42 (7.6-42.6 pg/mL). It is supposed to be around 20 for a man. They recommended Arimidex, anti-aromatise, and 4 weeks has seen definite improvement. Bonnie- If you are obese, the excess fat contributes to the estrogen excess. Fat cells preferentially aromatise testosterone to estrogen. That is one reason why my fiance is on the Arimidex. Hope this helps, Jennie > > > > > > I just started T-replacement but I think it is converting more to > > estrogen. Guest guest
Thanks Bonnie and Jennie. Got ya on the bodybuilder sites. Will stay away from them. And I will join the yahoo group that you suggested Jennie. Ok lets see...I am in perimenopause. I did have all my sex hormones tested as well as SHBG. My blood tests show I am very low in testosterone so my endo precribed some to try. My SHBG was at 27 but has gone up since starting naturethroid. It is a gel and I use 1x pump of (1ml) twice a day. I have been alternating application sites and using mostly thihs and hips. I have been doing less just to work into it slowly because I am a sensitive to drugs person. I have also shown low in progesterone and sometimes low estrogen yet I am estrogen dominant and insulin resistant. Its not PCOS because that would mean high test from what I understand. I also have high RT3 and the last 6 months have been a bad converter. this perimenopuse sucks and I am sure the off thryoid does not help. I am overweight which I thought perhaps the as you suggested I had excess estrogen trapped in the fat. I struggle through my periods. Am having what I think are hot flashes and terrible migraines. I am due to have everything tested again so I will post the new results. Thanks for your insight. > > > > > > I have been googling around and was reading some site that said > > Testosterone is needed in the conversion process for T4 to T3 and if > > your T is low you could be a bad converter.
