Guest guest
Jodi I just did a little research into sources of magnesium stearate as I hadn't looked into it before. Turns out magnesium stearate usually comes from bovine (beef) sources unless it states that it's vegetable magnesium stearate. Vegetable sources are usually hydrogenated cottonseed or palm oil. Magnesium stearate is used to help bind a supplement together, and as a lubricant during the manufacturing process. Most experts state that magnesium stearate is non-toxic at the levels used in supplements and medications. We normally avoid hydrogenated oils, but magnesium stearate is extracted from them; it's a salt that isn't water-soluble. It's going to be difficult to avoid it completely, I think. I saw it listed on PB and BTVC what made me question it wasthe "vegetable" word in front of it- as sometimes something this smallchanges the whole composition of an ingredient.
