Guest guest
Dari, Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. You will be in my prayers. Hello,To date, 4 women that I know or chat with have been taken off taxol and put on the "less side-effects" taxotere and they told the at least three of the women that taxotere was much easier than taxol. They all asked to be put on something else because the taxol pain was so bad.(taxol is UGLY!)From everything my Onc tells me taxotere is less harsh than taxol.ALL the nurses I spoke with prior to starting my new drug, and the Onc said my taxol would be much easier than A/C but turns out (they're NUTS!) :0(A/C was more a nauseating, achey type drug. Many of us received Nuelasta (white cell builder) while on the A/C and that caused moderate to severe bone pain for 4-7 days of my two week schedule. So, it was the Nuelasta part that was particularly hard on me when I was on my A/C #1-4 treatments. I had 4 Nuelasta along with A/C. (dose-dense)The TAXOL is serious, unbelievable (non-stop) bone and joint pain along with flu symptoms X 5. The achey stuff just plain makes you feel like crap but it is so doable. The PAIN for me was incredible.Without adding glutamine and liquid morphine on a regular schedule (when I started taxol) I was totally unable to get around. Felt like my ankles and knees were swollen and going to explode and my shins felt like shin splints X3. Other bones hurt, but the ankles and knees were unforgiving. On day 3, I began using a walker to get to the bathroom and back, it was so bad. (I'm 46 and had no problems before the taxol.)Today I'm on day 8 of taxol #1 treatment and I'm pretty much laid up. As a ref point, I'm pretty sure I am quite tolerant of pain. ( not a wuss) :-)So, I don't know the side effects of taxotere, but in several discussions with others that are on it they are relieved to take taxotere compared to taxol.Just thought I'd throw in what I know just in case they are going to switch your meds due to complications.Let me know, if you will, how you do on the taxotere.Hope you do well!Hugs!Darifastest2@...
