Guest guest
Here is a seasonal note from one of the people who was an experienced SCDer when I came along as a rank newbie. He's given permission to repost it from the old list to the new one. Hello and Seasons Greetings to the list. Just a note of encouragement to all of you now into SCD. I was hospitalized with UC for one month over 9 yeas ago. Constant bleeding, D, no appetite, 89lbs ( from 130 ), dreadful condition. Doc had never seen such an inflamed colon (descending side). On IV TPN, steroids, antibiotics and minerals. Cortisone enemas, Rowasa, Remicade ( started in hospital, three treatments after release ), veins in my arms shut down after too many rejected IV's. They tried to operate to install a permanent IV in my heart, but my blood work was too dangerous. So they went through my neck. I can still remember hospital staff sighing at my blood tests as my potassium levels would not stabilize. I couldn't understand that they were trying to help me or why they took blood work every morning. I was so weak I could not remember my phone number. In terror they released me, cutting me off " life support " ( I guess they needed my bed ) without which I could not imagine my exhausted nauseated body surviving. I was very very ill. Then the diet. Healing was slow, but regular. Never thought of quitting. Docs wanted me on lifetime Remicade, and Colazal and Rowasa. I continued with steriods, Colazal, Rowasa and cortisone enemas for months. Used the diet. Found a local source for raw milk to make yoghurt and raw butter. Gradually the clearing came. I was absolutely strict with the diet. I still am after 9 years. So trust the diet. Trust the process, have confidence. Trust the healing power in your miraculous body. Don't be discouraged and know you will be well. Happy New Year. Ewing UC 1998 Clear, no meds, perfect bowels.
