Does florinef raise potassium? I am almost to the top of range in potassium and about 138 in sodium. Would taking florinef put me over the top? I have aldosterone of 2.Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryDate: Thu, 28 Jan 2010 22:54:58 -0000To: <RT3_T3 >Subject: Good news on the ferritin front I've had a horrible time with ferritin. I even had an IV which brought my levels right up but then dropped to 54. I just tested and my ferritin went from 54 to 96 in 2 months with 200mg of ferretts brand iron. Also, my sodium is 138 and potassium is 4.0. I am on 120 meq of k-dur and 1 tab of florinef. I thought I was getting too much florinef, guess not. I took my florinef the morning of the test but not salt, food, or potassium. It looks like florinef helped raise my potassium from bottom of range but sodium has not gone up.

No, florinef should lower potassium. In my case, it looked like I was losing potassium along with sodium. Taking florinef for a high potassium and low sodium should bring potassium down, into balance with sodium.Subject: Re: Good news on the ferritin frontTo: RT3_T3@...Date: Thursday, January 28, 2010, 4:10 PM

What kind of doc do u see for this and what was your aldosterone level. My doc is not sure what to do with this. He is not comfortable with prescribing it. I go to bodylogics. I am really happy with him, but worry adding T3 with low aldosterone will weaken my adrenals more. I am just taking adrenal rebuilder.Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryDate: Thu, 28 Jan 2010 15:26:29 -0800 (PST)To: <RT3_T3 >Subject: Re: Good news on the ferritin front No, florinef should lower potassium. My aldosterone (sodium fasting) was a 6 and renin was below range. Aldosterone of 2 is very low, unless you were not fasting or sodium fasting for at least 24 hours. My doc is a DO. He Rx florinef simply because I asked to try it. With your levels, especially with symptoms, it's worth trying. I would try a 1/4 of the tablet and increase by 1/4 every 4 days or so until you're at 1 tab and re-evaluate things after a couple of weeks. Low sodium symptoms tend to get worse once on HC and higher levels of any thyroid med. Is the adrenal supplement helping? HC might be better, especially if your levels are as bad as your aldosterone. From: rlconnellyizoom (DOT) net <rlconnellyizoom (DOT) net>Subject: Re: Good news on the ferritin frontTo: RT3_T3yahoogroups (DOT) .comDate: Thursday, January 28, 2010, 4:10 PM

My level in the morning was about middle range, so not great. The only time it is high is at night; go figire. My doc mentioned this probably cause I stay up later for classes. I didn't go off my adrenal rebuilder for the test. Val mentioned I should have, but honestly I wouldn't be able to take my classes. My brain would b mush. What is the renin? We didn't test that. I should make sure I do. I don't think I was supplementing much salt when I tested, but I am now. What symptoms did u have. I only really have fatigue and I used to have to go to the bathroom way more than I do now. The doctor mentioned something about discolored skin in the folds, but I don't have that.Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryDate: Thu, 28 Jan 2010 15:59:49 -0800 (PST)To: <RT3_T3 >Subject: Re: Good news on the ferritin front My aldosterone (sodium fasting) was a 6 and renin was below range. Renin is a kidney enzyme that works with aldosterone to help regulate sodium and potassium. Your renin probably isn't low since it corresponds with potassium. It's important to not have any sodium 24 hours prior to the test and no food morning of or it will make the aldosterone low. I don't know that I would re-test but it's up to you though. If florinef helps, that's your answer. It sounds like the adrenal rebuilder is helping, hopefully enough and florinef isn't needed. Maybe just extra sea salt will help your symptoms. Woohoo! That's great news! I have the same issue after five rounds of IV iron

- it's back down. SOO good to hear it's possible to get it back up. Did you

supp EVERY DAY with the 200mg?

(I'm on florinef, too, btw!)

Yes, 200mg. I usually take 1 in the afternoon and 1 at bedtime on an empty stomach. I am thrilled. I was going to call my doc today for another IV if levels were low. Subject: Re: Good news on the ferritin frontTo: RT3_T3 Date: Thursday, January 28, 2010, 6:44 PM
