Guest guest
Hi Carol, I promised to let you know what my dentist said after I had my check up. Most of the discoloration came off with the clean/polish. He said it is extrinsic, which is nothing to worry about. It does not affect the strength of the tooth at all. The staining is coming back already, so I guess I will need a few more cleanings than normal. He didn't know why minocin would be staining my teeth however. Oh well--it is a little price to pay for the wonders of minocin! Patti
Guest guest
Hi Carol, Someone in the group, and my dental hygienist recommended brushing once a week with baking soda. The hygienist said that when you are using baking soda, floss with it to help the staining between the teeth. I noticed that it helps lighten up a bit! Hope it works on your gray--- Bye-Patti
Guest guest
That's what will happen with too much floride too. Eventually the teeth will turn a brownish color as well. a -- JLJukoski@... wrote: My 5 year old son's teeth have a funny color, too. He just got in his bottom two front permanent teeth. The whole tooth is the normal white color, but on the front there are large super-white patches that cover most of the front. It almost looks like he has plaque or something on there. Guest guest
Sounds very similar to my son's problems! His top 2 and bottom 4 are most affected and also the bottom 4 seem to have a build up of calcium carbonate on them from where he tends to pool saliva in his mouth> Re: [ ] tooth discoloration My 5 year old son's teeth have a funny color, too. Guest guest
The bits of opaque on my sons teeth is fluorosis. (sp?) he was overdosed on fluoride when younger,I dont know if this helps or not. If this is what it is, I hope perhaps Dana can tell us what she knows to do about this.
