Guest guest
I understand that everyone is different, and that it took a long to get sick and thus will take a long time to get better, but I am hoping for some perspective on when I might expect to see some positive results, as I am getting rather frustrated and discouraged. On the plus side, I've finally tapered all the way off of prednisone, and I'm NOT having the debilitating joint/fever/non-GI symptoms that have previously accompanied my flares. On the down side, the bleeding and D seem to be getting worse, if anything, not better. I can't figure out what I should eat. I've been on SCD since March, and I've experimented with various permutations: Intro diet, Stage 1, non-dairy SCD, vegan SCD, supplements, no supplements. Because I'm so concerned about blood loss and anemia putting me back in the hospital (I've been feeling very fatigued), I've even started eating red meat recently, for the first time in 25 years. Nothing really seems to make difference. Am I not giving things enough time to take effect? Was the effect of continually-lowering prednisone doses throwing things off? Should I start again now that I'm off prednisone (but still on Asacol)? I'm frustrated and don't know what to do next. If I could stabilize things enough (get the bloody D to stop) with a very simple diet, I could add things back slowly and see what has an effect. But I can't seem to find anything that I *can* eat to alleviate the symptoms. I welcome your input and advice and am grateful to this group. Thanks for your help!
