Guest guest
Hi I have a little boy w/ autism who is really sick right now and I bought some primal defense gelcaps but Im reluctant to give one to him b/c he would have to swallow it whole, does anyone have any tricks up their sleeve on giving whole pills to kids who refuse to take it? He is only four, and has very limited communication skills. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Guest guest
Hi Copadaddy! Didn't get your name.. Anyway, first of all the support group Pecan Bread; http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/ It's also a Yahoo group and you have to join. It's geared towards kids doing the SCD while having ASD. Many of us though with different ailments are on various sites. You just might find many people posting more questions that you will personally relate too more often. The second thing Primal Defense gelcaps are not legal on the SCD. They contain strains of bacteria and additives that for us SCD'ers would continue to feed the bad bugs among other things. GI Prohealth has a great dairy free SCD legal probiotic. The next thing, just in general many times people crush the medicine into apple sauce, pear sauce or fruit sauce and mix it up! Usually kids are then willing to eat it that way. There are some more tricks and I am sure other parents can post their experiences. Good Luck!
