Guest guest Posted December 26, 2008 Report Share Posted December 26, 2008 Hey guys... Okay, we made it through Christmas....Not easy but we made it! We have been doing SCD for 2 1/2 weeks now. Have been very strict with it. She is still having blood in her stools but going only 2-3 times per day. Her fever from earlier this week broke on Tuesday so I gave her the Humira injection. Today she is running a low grade fever again. We had to have blood work this week also and the doctor called Tuesday and said her hemoglobin count was at 7 (really no change since leaving the hospital on 12/5) and her hematocrit level was at like 22. She wanted her to go in for a blood transfusion today. We have stopped the iron pills since being on SCD and were trying to get her the iron through food obviously, but we went back to intro and now starting stage one again, so the foods have been limited. I feel in my heart that we are doing the right thing for her because I know it will pay off, but my husband and I hate to see her not feeling well! She is still on the 40 mg. of pred too and still has the bleeding. My husband Stu is at the doctor with Kayla right now so I will post again to let you know what that outcome is. He brought a copy of the BTVC book to show Kayla's doctor since when I was there with her two weeks ago, she said she had never heard of it!
