Guest guest
Hi Jeannie, I wonder if you may have Costochondritis? Basically it is inflammation in your rib cage. Depending on where in your chest you have it, breathing can be quite painful, your could feel like you are having a heart attack, or you may feel as if an elephant is sitting on your chest! Not fun, I know, because I am currently in a Costo flare. Anyway, ask your Rheumy about this possibility or do some research on your own about it. Good luck, > > About 3 weeks ago I awoke and felt like my entire chest all the way > around was made of glass. The slightest movement was like knives > through my body. Guest guest
I’ve had it on my sternum coupled with my shoulders. I could barely move, and found myself breathing as shallowly as possible. You need to talk to your doctor immediately about solving the pain issue !! The inflammation has gone down for me now and the pain is not as bad. Please remember that pain is not the end of things. If you keep looking you will find a way to make it bearable. There are many, many options. And please remember that the brain does its best to accommodate pain and it will adjust for you after some time. Hopefully by then your pain will be much less!! Are you on prednisone? Love, peace and pain relief to you yellow -----Original Message----- From: Jeannie [mailto:jeanniemalinda@...] Sent: Friday, March 04, 2005 10:13 PM To: Rheumatoid Arthritis Subject: Chest of Glass About 3 weeks ago I awoke and felt like my entire chest all the way around was made of glass. The slightest movement was like knives through my body. My Rheumy says it could be the RA has moved into this area. I can't take a single breath without pain. I am on 20 mg oxycontin 2x daily plus vicodin for breakthrough. That manages the pain in my feet, knees, and hips - but it doesn't touch the chest pain. I'm at my wits end and feel like killing myself to stop the pain. Has anyone else had RA in this area of your body and if so what has helped you with the pain? thx. Guest guest
Jeannie: I don't have pain in the area you described, but I have it just about anywhere else there is a joint from my neck down to my toes. I really hope that you're able to get your pain under control and that things start getting better for you. I struggled with pain management recently as well, and things aren't great, but they're better than what they were. I am on Percocet right now and it seems to help a bit. Again, it doesn't help get rid of all the pain, but I don't know if there's anything that does. Please hang in there and realize that there are others in the group that are thinking of you and hoping that you're feeling better soon. If you need to vent or just chat, please feel free to e-mail me privately. All the best... -- In Rheumatoid Arthritis , " Jeannie " <jeanniemalinda@b...> wrote: > > About 3 weeks ago I awoke and felt like my entire chest all the way > around was made of glass.
