Hi Marla!

No, you are not being a downer at all...I understand all too well the

stress. We have been on the SCD now for only about 1 1/2 weeks and

Kayla is still having blood in her stools. She is also on Humira

which I mentioned earlier and Prednisone. She did not eat her lunch

yesterday or today at school. No wonder she looks and feels weak. We

sent her with sliced grilled chicken, a ripe banana and some

applesauce. She only ate the applesauce. Said she felt sick. I

don't know what to do! Will things get better??? Will we start

seeing results??? UGH...this is major stress! I do know why you

start feeling pessimistic.

> You have to understand that I've been dealing with this stress since

July and even though she's starting to get back to school, I won't be

able to relax until she graduates from HS.

> I'm kidding (sort of).

> Anyway, I just wanted to say that this blog is great. And the diet

seems to have helped so many people. Your daughter doesn't have what

my daughter has so we can't really compare the 2. I know you'll find a

lot of help on here. These people are great. They respond to questions

quickly.

> As far as weight gain, that's a concern I have right now with

also.

> As far as the dry curd cottage cheese, I can find it at Jewel or

Meijer. You probably don't have a Meijer by you. It's more Michigan

based. I'm in Chicago area. But technically Rach can't have it anyway

since she has the dairy intolerance.

> My advice would be to start slowly like a few have said to you to

do. They told me it's like treating your daughter's stomach like an

infant's stomach. You do the intro first and then the stages. That's

really the best way to go.

> I hope I redeemed myself a little by writing back. Obviously I

wouldn't be doing this diet for her if I didn't think it would help.

The gastro doc couldn't find anything wrong with Rach in Sept. It was

the nutritionist who found the bacterial overgrowth and put Rach on

this diet. So, like I said, we just keep plugging away on it.
