Guest guest
Hello to all and thank you for having such an informative forum. I really glad I found it, as I've been diagnosed with rT3 dominance and theres so little info out there. Briefly, I've been an asymptomatic, untreated hyper for 20+ years until a year ago when I began to feel hypo. I was freezing all the time, palpitations, hair loss, sudden gain of 40lbs, lethargy and trouble w/ my memory- but my MD insisted I was hyper based on labs. I was started on Tapazole high dose and initially it worked well in a paradoxical manner (temp and energy increased). However 5 months in, I no longer responded and became even more hypo feeling. My MD upped the Tap. and gave me a psych referral so I went for a second opinion. I found a well known alternative MD specializing in thyroid disorders and through him found out about rT3. I am rather upset that as a nurse I had never been taught about this hormone and when I discussed it w/ my doc, I was reprimanded for seeing a " quack " . Any way I am going with the alt. MD and am weaning off Tap over the next month so that I can try T3. In addition, he tested my adrenals and what a surprise- they are below the minimum. I also have low ferritin, progesterone, HGH and extremely low vit D. In addition, I also have extremely high aluminum, lead and cadmium by hair test. None of these things did my HMO doc test. Interestingly, TPO is neg. and TSI is low. So as of last night, I started natural slow release cortisol, heme iron, HGH stimulant, low dose naltrexone, natural progest. and vit D2. Also for the weight I'm on HCG + very low cal diet for 3 weeks. When I'm off Tap, I will begin oral chelation per Cutler protocol but for now I'm doing FIR saunas for the heavy metals and general detox. I'm happy to post the progress on any of these or answer questions on them if its helpful to anyone. PS- just thought some stats might be helpful. I am a 40 y.o. female, 5'1 petite, current weight 150 lb, previously 105- 112 max. Omnivore for now, grew up strict vegetarian, then went raw foodist as an adult (including meat). I feel my thyroid is genetic tendency but got triggered when I moved to a very environmentally toxic urban area several years ago. Needless to mention, I definitely believe in rT3 as a culprit and suspect it can be linked to heavy metals. OK, sorry this is so long! Guest guest
>OK, sorry this is so long! Not too long at all. Hello and welcome to the group. You may already have found www.thyroid-rt3.com If you haven't then it may well help you find some of the answers. Are you supplementing iron, until you get the adrenals supported well enough to stabilize your daily average temperatures and Ferritin up somewhat you may well not be able to tolerate enough thyroid hormone to do any good. Chelation tends to be hard on the adrenals from what people say and may well be best left until adrenals and thyroid are in a better state. Good luck on your journey and feel free to ask questions.
