Guest guest
Hi there, I am currently taking 125mcg T3 and 20mcg HC. When I started taking both of these approx. 6 months ago, I weighed 169 pounds (the heaviest I had ever been). Finally, my thyroid and adrenal symptoms were gone and I was feeling wonderful. The excess weight starting coming off as I began to exercise again, but I could tell, finally, I had my metabolism back again. I am now 135 pounds and still have about 10 pounds to go before I reach my pre-thyroid/adrenal weight! Of course, my calorie intake has decreased as I have lost the weight and my exercise has definitely increased. I was doing great until about 2 weeks, I started not feeling super well again - nothing I could pinpoint, but just a little off. And then over the past 3 days, I have gained 8 pounds, but while exercising and eating absolutely no different. I then came across an article that mentioned " dieting " (although that is not what I am doing - healthy eating I would call it) affects the conversion of T4 to T3 and will lead to a buildup of RT3 which of course slows metabolism and leads to weight gain. This sounds EXACTLY like what I am experiencing. My question is and I'm hoping you can help - as I lose the weight and take in less calories as well as increase my exercise, do I then have to increase my T3 meds? I am feeling like 125mcg is not sufficient any more. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks,
Guest guest
Possibly your adrenals have healed and the 20mg HC ios too much now. MANY people I am seeing once RT3 s cleared can then have pretty sudden adrneal imporovements. I would reduce HC FIRST. Try dropping 5mg and see hwo it goes. If not bad effects then in 2 weeks drop 2.5 and contineu dropping 2.5mg a week until off it. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
