Guest guest
Dear Suzie- Sometimes what you think is a flare might be a Fibromyalgia flare in the back. I have them in my shoulders and back something fierce sometimes. A hot shower or heating pad helps immensely. If you do have a flare in your shoulder, your muscles will "guard" and twist badly to protect your joints. It happens to me in my shoulders and hips so that my back is affected. Sleep, a good distrating movie and a hot pad. I hope you feel better soon. Yours, Deborah
Guest guest
Sweetie, I've only had one flare and that was soon after I was "officially" diagnosed. One of my friends who also has RA said that I needed to keep heat on the area (it was my hands), so I went home, wet some paper towels and my hubby helped me wrap my hands in them and then wrapped them in a heating pad and I just lay down and watched tv and then slept. So I sure do understand and you have my complete sympathy, but I sure wish I knew something that would help you. I have not really experienced RA pain in my back before - but it is causing pain into my chest too, which is horrid. I guess I just want some sympathy and words of encouragement from those who truly understand. Guest guest
Suzie: I'm so sorry to hear that you're in such pain right now. I've been fortunate enough to never have had a flare in my back or chest area. I have heard it's excruciating though. Please make sure to follow-up with your Rheumy if you are having trouble with pain management. Although it may not be possible to eliminate all of your pain, you may be able to get it to a point where it's manageable. All the best... > > Hi all, > > Just feeling a bit low today as I am flaring badly - this time in my > back. Guest guest
Thank you all so much - you guys are fantastic! Unfortunately i have some serious work deadlines to meet very soon, so i cant stop completely, but i do work from home which i am VERY grateful for at the moment! Yes, i will try heat packs. I do have fibromyalgia so it may be that. I had 2 cortisone injections in my neck 2 weeks ago (along with 4 local anaesthetics to try and kill the pain) and since then my back has been really painful - not just in the muscles but in the vertebrae. My neck wasnt anywhere near as bad as this before i had the injections! Should have left it alone i think. Bath and bed for me! Thanks so much x > Dear Suzie- Sometimes what you think is a flare might be a Fibromyalgia > flare in the back. I have them in my shoulders and back something fierce > sometimes.
