Plateaus, scales and patience

I put my scale away! I was starting to fear I was hitting a plateau,

or a definite slow-down in my weight loss. The scale was barely

registering any change, either way, for close to a week. I was

beginning to fear that I had hit the first dreaded plateau, or worse,

that I'd be the first failure with this surgery. Another friend of

mine who struggles with her weight, and tends to beat herself up

depending on what the scale says, decided to put the scale away until

Christmas morning. On Christmas morning, whatever weight she's lost

over the month will be her gift to herself. I decided to join her.

I put the scale away without even getting on it. I need to be

patient with myself. The weight will come off whether I get on the

scale to check it out or not. I will just focus on healthy eating,

getting some exercise, and let my body sort out the rest. Christmas

day will be three months to the day since my surgery, so it will be a

good time to check in with Mr. Scale.
