Guest guest
Hi Betty, Welcome to the group. I'm sorry, I don't have any answers for you. Have you looked into the Healthnet Policy? It seems to me that leaving an HMO for a more open policy might be a good thing. More options. Why don't you call Dr. Welker's office and see if he is in the Healthnet network? That would be perfect. If you've been lurking, you've been reading about Joe and Joy. Joy has bad gallbladder disease, and is trying to hang on. Dr. W. will remove her gallbladder when he switches her. most MO people have gallbladder disease. Hot baths and advil are also a good teatment, and keep a journal of what you eat when you get an attack. I'm sure you know that fatty foods are a no no - but sometimes other unexpected things will set it off - maybe you'll discover a pattern. Hang in there - Jan 29th is right around the corner. And you can always call for cancellations...its a good time of year for that. Welcome and Happy Holidays... Guest guest
> Hi Everyone! > > Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone else in the Portland area do Lap > DS? BettY: Just wanted you to know that Dr. Welker DID do lap BPD/DS, but he has placed a temporary moratorium on performing the procedure laparoscopically due to severe, life threatening complications experienced by a patient of his, Joe Frost (he is also a friend of ours on the list! ). This is what we've heard from various sources. I would definately call his office to confirm or deny this. I just didn't want you to wait until your January date and then find out that he will not be doing laps! I don't know of anyone else who performs the surgery laparoscopically in the Portland area - but I would think more info can be found on the Dr. Welker e-group list! I'm sure you'll meet (if you haven't already) lots of local people there. Of course, stay here, too! :) LOL all the best, Laparoscopic BPD/DS with gallbladder removal Dr. Gagner/Mt. Guest guest
Maybe you can pay the insurance premiums yourself for the old insurance just long enough to get the surgery. I think by law they have to convert it to a private policy if you want it. Dawn
