Hi

It makes no difference that you are postmenopausal. Your ferritin is low it needs to be 70-90. You should be taking 100-200mg of elemental iron per day. Most doctors would say that your ferritin is fine. But these are the same doctors that do not have a clue when it comes to our thyroids. You can split the dose if you want.

my ferritin is 48 which i know is too low, but i'm post-menopausal and am wondering if the supplementation recommendations are any different. my doc is having me increase my cytomel from 5mcg to 10. she seemed to think my ferritin is fine where it's at. she also suggested i take 2-5mcg tabs at one time rather than splitting up the dosage-not sure if that is correct or not.thanks susan

It is always easier on the adrenals and any low Ferriitn situation to

split a dose of T3. And I do beliueve sh eis wrong that ferritin is not

fine. How ever I would nto recommend the usual 150-200mg btu rater

100-125mg for you as you are nto as low as most with lwo ferritin

issues, nothign to do with mensrtrual status.
