Guest guest
Hi I live in Australia and I get my mexican cynomel in about 9 days. Even though they say 18 to 25. When did you order it? But since you have not been using T3 for a long enough time to fully suppress thyroid production, you are probably not in eminent danger of what's called myexodema (not sure of spelling). Your natural production of T4 will provide some help, but you will likely get a relapse to your original level of hypothyroid discomfort. You can lessen this by tapering off, i.e., reducing your daily dosage, say every other day until you're off. This is a bit faster than recommended, but should help a bit. If any of this isn't clear, let me know. Let us pray Sky is right about delivery time! Lee
Guest guest
HI Lee, Yes, I'm just starting to take my Cytomel at a greater frequency than the prescription dictates. My doc doesn't understand RT3, so when I told him I wanted to stay off Synthroid and stay ON Cytomel-only until this RT3 issue cleared, he easily wrote me a script for 5 mcg of Cytomel to take 4x daily. As you can imagine, 20 mcg of Cytomel with no other support is just not enough. I've been taking five times a day for a couple of weeks now, so I only have a few more days of pills remaining. I realized this morning that it's time for a bump up -- my ankles started hurting again like they did when my thyroid levels were too low. My eyes are also getting painfully dry again, I'm feeling super-fatigued and my fingertips are cracking, plus my weight is starting to go up. The Mexican Pharmacy says it will be 18 to 25 business days (if my memory serves me right) before my pills come in. My TSH on my last set of labs was at 0.0006, which is what prompted my doc to try to drop my Cytomel. He wanted to keep me just on Synthroid. Gosh, I'd be unable to function right now if I had continued on the T4 meds. My only concern with finding an ND is that even if they write a prescription (can they do that?), my insurance isn't going to cover it. Cytomel is about $100 for a months supply, and with my current script only calling for 4 pills a day, I dont' think even another refill will get me through until the Cynomel comes. At 0.0006 TSH, my doc says my thyroid is competely shut down. Not sure what will happen if I just stop taking anything. I mean, I could restart the Synthroid (omg, please tell me no....). Will my thyroid just pick back up on its own? Honestly, I can't afford to relapse. Discomfort is not the adequate term -- nonfunctioning is more like it. I'm surprised that I haven't lost my job due to nonproductivity. I'm a writer -- it has been hard even now to think clearly and be creative, and made even more difficult when I'm in such severe pain that I can't sit still for more than a few minutes. Add that to the rest of the symptoms and it's just a nightmare. My sister even recommended last month that I go on disability for a while -- something I can't even imagine at my age. I welcome any ideas - how to taper off, any thyroid support supplements that might help in the interim, etc. Thanks, Subject: Re: Gonna run out of Cytomel while waiting on Cynomel. Guest guest
>I welcome any ideas - how to taper off, any thyroid support supplements that might help in the interim, etc. the trouble is that it takes weeks to taper off or to get T4 into the system. you either need to get more T3 from your Doc or somewhere, If you HAD to take something else then Natural would at least have some T3 in it if you see yourself running out and can't persuade the Dr to do anything then taper down over a week, preferably two, and see if your thyroid can take up the slack, it's better to be a bit hypo for a longer time than to crash suddenly which can be VERY dangerous. How much are tickets to Mexico from where you live?? My long term emergency plan consisted of getting on a plane to Mexico! I have had supplies in as little as 10 days from Mexico. You could also e-mail him and ask how much express delivery would be. Guest guest
Yes, my meds from Mexico never take longer than 2 weeks. Also, Biotics makes some thyroid glandular, there was some discussion on it, that is SUPPOSED to be t3 only. There is the regular one and a " Forte " one. I suppose it could do in a pinch. Nick, LOL at your plan to fly to Mexico!! That sounds like a good plan, lol. I need some Soma, too, for when I can't sleep. ;-)) I actually live fairly close to the border and could drive there if I really had to. Well, have my husband drive is more like it. It's worth remembering as a contingency plan. I gather there are a LOT of pharmacies in Tj catering for American visitors stocking up.
