Guest guest
Are you trying to get approval without a letter from the surgeon? Are you just trying to get the consult covered at this point? I thought the determination for medical necessity is sent usually after the consult. How far are you traveling? Maybe you can call his office and have them switch with someone who is a month later than you? That way you won't have to start the wait entirely over in order to get a consult if the insurance comes through. Guest guest
had made an appointment with Dr. Hess for December 11th thinking Teri -- Why can't you call and ask the insurance company for their answer? Better to have an answer now and be working on a new angle .. then to let them hang you out to dry. There should be a time frame noted in your insurance booklet that tells you how much time they have to made these kinds of decisions. I would act on that timeframe. Also .. can't Walter call? You have a right to a response. Good Luck... Judi in MS Awaiting Ins Approval Dr. Booth BMI
Guest guest
I had made an appointment with Dr. Hess for December 11th thinking that there would be a decision made on my appeal for surgery. I, or should I say Walter appealed in September and it has been over 2 months since that appeal went in. I really hate these insurance companies. It has been over 60 days and I haven't heard from them yet. What does it take to figure out that some one who has a BMI 50 and has been overweight all her life is not going to lose weight without surgery. I suppose I should be hopeful that this time they are thinking about it and I have not been denied right away like the last two times, but hey they should have come up with a decision by now. If I were to be approved then the money I would spent to travel to see Dr. Hess would be worth it. If I were denied then I would cancel because this is the final decision through evil insurance, to them it would be case closed. I would have to file a lawsuit and that takes time and money but of course I would give them as much trouble as I could. I need to either make travel arrangements or cancel and re-schedule. I don't know what to do.
