Guest guest
I've noted many messages in the archive mentioning SHBG problems, but no conclusion. So, I'm interested in knowing if there is anyone here who has had high SHBG from taking T3, and found a way to deal with it. I was on a board where guys talk about their hormone problems and once they found out I was on T3-only, and had high SHBG (72, on a scale 10-60) I immediately got the response " get onto T3+T4, man " . My total testosterone isn't a problem, but free T is low normal, undoubtedly due to SHBG. So is T3+T4 the only option? Or does someone know of others? I've noted there are some almost-folk remedies for high SHBG (e.g. nettle root is one of them) but I'm not sure how effective or reasonable any of them are. Guest guest
FIsh Oil and Nettle Root seem to be the usual recomendations I ahve found. Guest guest
Hi Ed I have high SHBG too. I wish I could be on the T4 T3 combo. Sigh. Anyway, testosterone itself actually lowers SHBG, so if you took a little bit of supplemental T it might help. Let us know if you have luck with the nettle or fish oil. I wish I could find a solution. Liz > > I've noted many messages in the archive mentioning SHBG problems, but > no conclusion. My total T is 831 ng/dL (240-950) so since I'm reasonably high, I don't expect adding T would help a lot. I found out in the same test that I have low protein (from past history of celiac disease, and age), and that low protein can also increase SHBG, so I'm attacking that issue with Betaine HCl, 3 grams before meals. The two most common folk-style remedies appear to be nettle, and avena sativa. Bodybuilding.com sells a product called " Unleashed " whose main ingredient is avena sativa. Have you looked into avena as a possibility? I recently took the comprehensive nutritional profile available from Spectracell.com and discovered some problems there. So as soon as I get those fixed, I think I'll be trying a course of T3+T4 therapy, checking rT3 carefully, to see if I can tolerate it. If I can't tolerate any T4, then I guess I'll try Unleashed. Guest guest
I hope it works for you. I will wait to hear a report from you then look into unleashed as well. I am so tired of buying stuff that doesn't work! But I keep hoping! :-) Liz > > >Hi Ed > >I have high SHBG too. I wish I could be on the T4 T3 combo.
