I hope it's the ferritin too! Otherwise I'm gonna be up a creek...lol. I

wouldn't think the 74 is falsely elevated though, as it dropped to 16 after I

donated blood last August and took 4 months to recover to that 74 level with

heavy supplementation. But I'll retest it and an iron panel to make sure.

Thanks Val!

I doubt it's falsely elevated too but you know that.  Maybe 74 is just not enough for YOU.  I would think 90-100ish would be a much better idea for " us " .  Once there I would take 25 of iron a day.  Not every other day.

Yes, I would try the increase in salt before adding more florinef.  When I needed to increase florinef more salt didn't do the trick but then I was already on 2 tea.

>> Well that is not a bad diet but I can never see lwoering protein when >> you are tryin got gain metabolism and energy.>I know there is a reason for the protein restriction, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is...lol. When I find out I'll let you know :)

The idea is to have adequate, but not excessive protein. The OD originator was very big on not putting any undue stress on the body. More protein than is needed for basic maintenance can be converted to glucose and can stimulate insulin production, leading to weight gain or at least inability to lose weight. So, OD tries to strike a balance between the macronutrients that is as easy on the body as possible (high fat, adequate protein, low carb, but not low enough carb to cause ketosis, which he also felt was an undue stressor).

Anyway, that's my understanding

Hi Rainbow,

Please keep us, or at least me updated with your new diet. I am always looking

for a good diet that might actually work. I have tried so many in the pasts and

have sort of given up hope, especially with the added thyroid and adrenal

issues. I'm not one to rock the boat with anything harsh that may upset my

system. This diet sounds as though it is " adrenal happy " so if this one proves

to actually help lower at least some of the weight and hopefully lots of weight

please keep me posted.

Thanks,

> About a month ago I switched to what's called the Optimal Diet - high fat,

moderate protein, low carb. It's similar to Atkins, but not as restrictive on

carbs and more restrictive on protein. I'm currently eating at least 1732

calories per day, made up of a minimum of 148g fat, maximum of 41g carbs and max

59g protein (these numbers were based on my height of 5'6 " which gives me an

ideal weight of 130).

bread, potatoes, pasta and sugary items) and I think it made me feel worse at

first...the induction period I guess. But I've felt pretty good over the last

few days, so maybe I'm over that now. I've already lost 4.5 pounds (and half an

inch). Plus my skin is clearer and my throat isn't as " gunky " as it used to be.

And my husband (who is slowly switching over) has lost NINE pounds already.

Craziness!

loop. I really should've waited until I got myself optimized before doing this,

but as usual I jumped the gun. I'm just so ready to be well! But something is

still holding me back :(
