Your brain on iron -- discovered Florinex and some interesting connections today

I went to Whole Foods today to pick up some supplements. I can usually count on

finding what I need along with some things I never thought of.

For example, I was able to pick up the pregnenolone that my doctor prescribed,

and also found an interesting homeopathic sublingual spray called Brain Energy.

Gosh, how I NEED that!

I also was introduced to a product called Florinex -- a liquid iron and herb

supplement that has 10 mg of elemental iron plus a lot of B vitamins and more.

The person who assisted me happened to be a trainer for Whole Foods in the

supplement area, and he was so incredibly helpful.

I was originally asking about 5-HTP, which is a precursor to serotonin. I've

been suffering a lot of depression over the last few weeks, crying many nights.

It's an unsettling place to be considering that even in the midst of the tears I

can think of a million things I'm happy about. I think I'm just overwhelmed and

afraid of not being able to think and get my work done.

I explained the depression issue to him and told him of my cognitive difficulty.

He said that women who have difficulty in starting and/or finishing projects

typically have very low iron. (!!!!) He was describing me perfectly. I hadn't

mentioned to him that I have very low ferritin. I can't help but wonder why none

of my doctors have mentioned this issue when I've told them about my brain

challenges.

With the iron, he told me to take it first thing in the morning on an empty

stomach, and then again in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. He said that

I'd feel the effects almost immediately. Feeling rather drained at the moment, I

opened the bottle and took a shot while I was waiting at the Trattoria for my

dinner to be prepared. Within 30 minutes, I could tell such a big difference in

my energy level! The product actually has a really nice taste too.

Here's wishing for a week ahead with nice energy, relaxed muscles and

well-functioning brains!
