Guest guest
Hello Shirley, Welcome to the group-You will find wonderful women friends here with lots of experience and support. It is a shock when you first find out; especially when they state you have to do this and this. There will be a progression of marching to get surgery, pathology reports, chemo radiation and anti-hormone therapy. Don't take such a big hunk. Think only of the surgery a day at a time. Tell us a little about yourself. I am 54-was diagnosed in October 2005. Had the surgery lumpectomy (Oct. 27) 30 radiation treatments; estrogen positive. It sure was a wake up call believe me. But time has passed and I have accepted the fact that I always will have to have the fear of reoccurence. Take it a day at a time. Let us know how it is going. It was enough of a shock that I had breast cancerto begin with, but to find out that I have 2 different kinds reallysent my head spinning. I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy onMarch 3rd. I found out yesterday that my treatment plan includes chemo, radiationand anti-hormone therapy. I was hoping that I wouldn't need chemo, but that's not the case. I have to have a port put in my chest nextweek for my chemo meds. My oncoligist said that is the best way togive chemo to someone who is diabetic, otherwise the chemo could causealot of problems with collapsed veins and other things in my arm. Iwill be starting my treatments in about 2 1/2 weeks. I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive, goes to everyappointment with me. I also have 6 wonderful kids that are also verysupportive, but I can see the fear from the uncertainty in their eyes.My husband and I are self employed and my sister works with us. Allof my kids have offered to do whatever (including my job) is necessaryto help me through this. All of my kids are grown with families ofown, but all worked for me at one time or another. Some of them haveoffered to move back home for awhile, if I need them to. I hope itdoesn't come to that. So I do know that they will be able to helpkeep things going. I have been reading the posts for a couple weeks now, but this is thefirst time I have posted. I'm sure I will have questions along theway and am glad to know this group is here.Sorry for going on and on, just a little overwelmed at the moment.Shirley Arnold SHARON COLEY DIRECTOR OF SALES DOUBLETREE HOTEL LOS ANGELES/ROSEMEAD 888 MONTEBELLO BLVD.
