Guest guest
I have an RT3 problem, low ferritin and high cortisol & I'm taking 4 g Armour. I decided to switch to T3. Since I don't have enough T3 (more coming) I started taking 1 g Armour and 25 mcg of T3 spaced out thru the day. I tolerated that OK & felt pretty well, so after 5 days I raised to 1 g Armour and 30 mcg T3. Two days on this regimen. I have had anxiety recently, but the anxiety increased with T3 so much it was intolerable! Near panic attacks, couldn't sleep, episodes of freezing cold hands & feet, up & down temps, etc..... just horrible. Couldn't tolerate another day like that so yesterday I took *NO* thyroid whatsoever and had the best day in more than a year!! Felt like myself again - no anxiety, no fatigue...Just wonderful. Could I have been on too much Armour? Would this make me soooo anxious when converting to T3? On 3 g Armour - December labs: FT3 - 2.92 pmol/L (2.1-3.8) RT3 - 24.0 ng/dl (11-32) FT4 - 1.07 ng/dl (0.82-1.63) ((RT3 ratio - 12.1)) Doc said I was hypo & raised me to 4 g in December. This is January labs: FT4 - 1.32 ng/dl (0.82-1.77) FT3 - 4.5 pg/ml (2.0-4.4) * HIGH Ferritin - 36 (Not taking iron yet. Ordered some.) Salivary Cortisol from December: Morning: 11.6 (8.0-15.0) Midday: 6.2 (3.0-7.0) Evening: 6.6 (2.0-4.0) * HIGH Night: 5.5 (<1.5) * HIGH What to do now? Took no meds and not doing as well today, a bit foggy, tired. Was I on too much Armour to begin with? Don't know what to take now....Take Armour, take T3 or a combo? And how much? Help.... Guest guest
Hi It sounds like you may be having problems because of your low ferritin. Here is a link to the information Nick has provided us about ferritin: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ferritin/ Val says if your ferritin is low when you try to increase T3, anxiety is a likely result. She says we need our ferritin to be arond 70-90 for optimal results. Can you buy some elemental iron supplements locally while you are waiting for the ones you ordered? Hopefully Val or Nick will be around and can advise you on what thyroid meds to take now. Heidi

Looking at those labs you overcooked the amount of T3 for the ferritin you had If you have enough T3 I would take no Armour today at all and take 25 of T3 spread in 4 or 5 doses through the day.
