Guest guest
My Transferrin is a little low too. 2.5. The range is 2.0 to 4.0. My Transferrin saturation is at 33%. Range 15% to 57%. Now, the page I am reading now at my local lab's website, says that if your Transferrin is lowish, it means you are anemic. How is your Hemoglobine? Mine is actually very high, above the top range at 17.5. The range goes up to 17.0. Well, all labs have different ranges and ways of measuring. What's your Transferrin and Trans. Saturation like? My ferritin is 28 but my TIBC and UICB are also at the low ranges. I cannot find a profile for this. Only for HIGH TIBC and UICB plus low ferritin. My iron level is right in the middle. I don't want to get iron overload from supps, but I need to raise my ferritin. Anyone know about this? Thanks Liz
Guest guest
Hi Gibcast I thought if your tibc or uibc was on the low side it means you have iron overload, not anemia. I think this is iron binding capacity, not transferrin. I am not sure what my transferrin is or hemoglobin, unfortunately. Did you get the tibc done? Guest guest
Without saying too much about something I am not an _expert_ with, I think they're the same! Transferrin is TIBC, cause it describes how things are binging with each other. Mine is 2.5, range 2.0 to 4.0. It has gone down from last time I checked it.What are your values? I think you gotta take a LOT of iron before things gets overloaded. Here's a very useful link to all these things about iron:http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/tibc/test.htmlMy saturation percentage, a total of serum iron and tibc (total iron binding capacity) is 33% so I guess I'm good thus far.Iron and it's related test ranges for women are different than for men.Hope any of this helps you! in Norway Hi Gibcast I thought if your tibc or uibc was on the low side it means you have iron overload, not anemia. Guest guest
Thanks for atleast answering. Adrenals levels seemed ok both blood and saliva. Maybe only slightly low. If anything I am producing too much cortisol. Ferritin is up to 60 which is really good for me. So good, my body is passing more of the iron in the stool than absorbing. I have brought it up from low 30's. Anyway appreacite the help. Guess I will just try and report if I get nothing else. Just a bad day, week I guess. > > My ferritin is 28 but my TIBC and UICB are also at the low ranges. I cannot find a profile for this. Only for HIGH TIBC and UICB plus low ferritin. Guest guest
Oh okay. Didn't realize they are the same thing. Sorry about that! Here are my numbers: ferritin 28 (10-291) TIBC 272 (250-450) UIBC 176 (150-375) serum iron 96 (35-155) iron saturation 35% (15-55) Free T3 4.2 (2.0-4.4) I have read that usually for anemia, the ferritin is low and TIBC and UICB are high. I can't find anything that has them all three low. I have started supplementing iron again and I feel kind of achy, so I don't know if I need to take just a small amount. How much do you take? Thanks Liz
