Guest guest
Reposting some of my previous labs to help here: Sept 2009 taking 45/30 dessicated thyroid, Cortef 10/5/5 plus 2mg medrol daily TSH .529 (.45-4.5) FT4 1.17 (.93-1.71) FT3 2.8 (2.0-4.4) RT3 343 (90-350) Nov 2009 taking 15/15/15/15 dessicated thyroid, Cortef 10/5/5 plus 1mg medrol daily TSH 1.18 same ranges FT4 1.32 FT3 3.0 RT3 238 Jan 2010 Taking 15/15/15/15 (1 Grain total) dessicated thyroid, Cortef 7.5/5/5 TSH 4.0 same ranges FT4 1.12 FT3 3.2 RT3 239 Ferritin 44 (22-322) I was feeling really hypo after the January labs when I found this group for help. I started supp Iron 200-250 mg daily 2 divided doses with Vit C, and have tried to begin substituting my NT doses for T3 and with an increase to offset the decrease in dosage in November that sent my TSH higher. Currently I am taking HC 7.5/5/5/2.5 Cytomel alternating with NT 5 mg cytomel/0.25 grain NT/2.5 mg cytomel/0.25 grain NT/5mg SRT3 at bedtime Iron as above Testosterone and DHEA 50 mg....most recent levels were good on this dosing I have definitely had some decrease in hypo symptoms with the increase in available T3, not depressed, less of the heart pounding, not freezing(but still cold), paresthesias are gone, skin not burning. Still waking up some at night and some hot/sweats but not as bad as before. But, I am still having brain fog and " detachment " , sometimes I have a hard time distinguishing the two, and it seems to fluctuate wildly throughout the day, it seems relative to med dosing but I don't know which one! In the past whenever I have tried to take more T3 my detachment got worse so I suspect it. At times I also feel what maybe you guys are calling " intolerance " of the increase in T3, as little as I am taking! I don't feel anxiety but I get this edgy feeling like fingernails on a chalkboard and where loud sounds really bother me, but never light sensitive. Yesterday it was in the morning after the 5 mg cytomel. This morning I don't have it but maybe will later today. My temps seem to be between 98.4-98.6 for the last 6 days but Monday avg 98.9. It seems a day or two a week I have an outlier. My BP goes up from 10-20 on standing. My basal temps are always about 97.4-97.6 before getting out of bed. My HR is usually 60 lying at rest, 67 while typing this. Any suggestions on the next step while waiting for my ferritin to increase? Should I try to do anything else with the T3? Should I increase the HC? Finally, I am still trying to determine what improvements I can expect. I do suspect that I am having hypo symptoms, but I don't know which are. I have physical energy but no motivation or vigor. I don't have weight gain but I do seem to have swelling around the eyes. The worst by far is the cognitive, especially the detachment. It took me forever to type this and it almost feels like I am not doing it myself. Thanks as always. Steve
