Guest guest
Not sure you're male or female, but want to tell you my basals drop at a certain time of the month, then it slowly increases and reaches a peak at another time of the month. It's in rhythm with my menstrual cycle. (if you want to know which part of the month, I need to go check my chart) > > I just recently started raising cytomel and am now taking 25 mcg per day (6.25 at 8, 11, 2 & 5pm). The last few days I have felt more hypo than ever. Basal is usually 97.5 or so now is 97.2. Can barely get me out of bed , lots of coldness, worst mentally, etc. My temp during the day yesterday was 97.8 at one point. My pulse 1/2 hr after 2pm dose was 62 (was 72 before dose). > > Are these normal things? >
Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestion. It seems unlikely though as I have been taking my temps for six months and this is the first time they've ever gone that low. The only thing I'm doing different is increasing the cytomel. Plus it is in combination with such noticeably worse hypo symptoms. I thought I would start to feel less hypo ( > > > > I just recently started raising cytomel and am now taking 25 mcg per day (6.25 at 8, 11, 2 & 5pm). Guest guest
I've been on 12.5 mcg cytomel since December when RT3 test showed ratio of 11.3. Prior to that I was on one grain of thyroid (erfa) for three months. Just recently (October 2009)found doctor who diagnosed hypothyroid and then I found STTM info re adrenals, etc. Have been undiagnosed hypothyroid for years I think (had one adrenal gland removed in 2005 re " cortisol-producing tumor " ). With help from Val on NTHAdrenals, I am supported with HC now and have been having iron IVs to raise ferritin. My first increase from 12.5 mcg was Feb 10 to 18.75mcg Then on fourth day after that (Feb 13) raised to 25 mcg. SO have only beenon 25 mcg since Feb 13. Thanks so much for your help ) > > > >Are these normal things? > > Sounds like not enough, what were you on before and how long have you > been on 25? > > Nick > > -- > > for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to > > www.thyroid-rt3.com> >
Guest guest
I'd sure like to know, I'm peri and am working on temps and sometimes they take a sudden dip. Guest guest
I don't have my chart in front of me but I did glance over it today: When I ovulate my temps increase and keep increasing by about one point each day, until menstruation. My temps dip again either on the first day of menstruation or when my period ends. I would need to take a look at my graph to see when exactly it dips. It certainly increases when I ovulate. I track my ovulation as well and they seem to correlate. > > I'd sure like to know, I'm peri and am working on temps and sometimes > they take a sudden dip. Guest guest
That is normal because the progesterone in the luteal phase increases temps.... liz > > > > I'd sure like to know, I'm peri and am working on temps and sometimes > > they take a sudden dip. What matters is the time from when T4 gets low enogh but that's harder to quantify Nick
Guest guest
I have been going through similar thing and each time it gets better if I increase the T3 some more. I was guessing that I am shutting down my own production with each increase and have to increase the dose every 3 -4 days to keep up. Guest guest
Great - thanks Nick. I will keep moving ahead! I just was worried maybe I was doing something too quickly or incorrectly as I've never felt so hypothyroid before in my life. I have gradually felt more and more hypo since starting to get my adrenal supported. The low cortisol symptoms used to trump the hypothryoid somehow! Now I've eliminated the low cortisol symptoms I can really feel the hypo things I guess. Even more so since increasing the T3 - could that be because the T3 has started to stop the T4 already - so soon in the process? And by stopping the T4, I have less T3 because I am still quite early in the ramping up? Thanks so much for your help ) > > > >My first increase from 12.5 mcg was Feb 10 to 18.75mcg > > > >Then on fourth day after that (Feb 13) raised to 25 mcg. Guest guest
Thanks Steve. Are you still at 6.25mcg per dose? I have been doing increases every 3 or 4 days too. Shutting down production is what I just clued in must be happening with me too. I thought that didn't come until later - but it must be that. Thanks for the post - it feels better to know someone else is having the same experience. Although I wish we were all healthy, with normal hormone levels! ) > > > > > > > > I just recently started raising cytomel and am now taking 25 mcg per day (6.25 at 8, 11, 2 & 5pm). Guest guest
I am now doing 8.75, 6.25, 8.75, 6.25, 5 at bedtime. I added a half of a 5mcg to two of my doses a few days ago, and plan to add to the other doses when I feel the need probably by the weekend? I am getting an iron IV Thursday and I cannot wait!!! I hope to work up after that to 11.25 per dose, and then ultimately 12.5. My temps get as high as 99 sometimes so I am not really sure why (ferritin?) but my basal still 97.4 most mornings and my pulse is always under 70. I did start having palpitations tonight so not sure what that is about. Steve > > > > > > > > > > I just recently started raising cytomel and am now taking 25 mcg per day (6.25 at 8, 11, 2 & 5pm). Guest guest
That's a great idea to add a half to the alternate doses. I was thinking when I fill up my day with 6.25 that going to 12.5 all at once might be scary. I would have to get some 10mcg pills though I guess - I just have 25s now. Is it your first iron IV? I'm so glad I started them. I postponed because I was worried about some sort of reaction (I've always been sensitive to EVERYTHING) but it was no problem whatsoever. I was just in " wait-mode " before the IVs. I'm getting a ferritin test again tomorrow to see if another one should be done. (Someone told me to go for the iron IV with a full stomach - so I did that. Not sure of the reason but it can't hurt Also, if you are on HC, consider a stress dose before you go in for the IV. I didn't and was kind of shaky by the end (the whole needle issue, I think). After I was done, I took my next HC dose and felt better in five minutes. I actually felt better than usual all afternoon after the IV - but I also had a Myers Cocktail (vitamins by IV) right before iron so that might have helped. I had higher temp for the first time this afternoon (98.9) and felt kind of flushed (red in my cheeks) but my heart rate was normal. I ate dinner and then went to normal again. When your temps go up to 99 is it in the late afternoon? Do you check to see if it lasts long? If you are due for your next dose and your temp is up, do you still take the scheduled dose on time? When I felt flushed this afternoon, I waited half and hour and then took it and things seemed okay. Not sure if that is the right thing to do. Thanks again for sharing - seems like we're at exactly the same spot ) > > I am now doing 8.75, 6.25, 8.75, 6.25, 5 at bedtime. Guest guest
I had my first IV last week. Thanks for the tips though. I have had so many needles (one day I will tell my story on here) so I could start my own IV if I had to. Flushing is one of my most interesting features. Everyone thinks I'm sunburned all the time. I cannot figure out a pattern and it drives me nuts. It is definitely better since starting this protocol though. I also can't find a pattern to the temps. It seems lately that the highest is around noon. I think that it is definitely tied to the T3 dose so maybe the increases get me higher temps at least temporarily. I still take the dose. The only thing I would call intolerance is that sometimes I get an antsy feeling and the most noticable thing is that I can't stand noise. It may last a few hours or a day. I think that must be adrenal or ferritin, but since it has been temporary and I am on HC 32.5 aond iron, I just keep going. Steve > > > > I am now doing 8.75, 6.25, 8.75, 6.25, 5 at bedtime. Guest guest
>I was guessing that I am shutting down my own production with each increase and have to increase the dose every 3 -4 days to keep up. Yep, as the T3 remaining from T3 conversion reduces you have to follow it with an increase in the external T3. for me I was following that chase all the way to the 12 week mark with weekly increases. After clearance you will need a few adjustments but then should be able to get onto a stable dose From here http://thyroid-rt3.com/dosing.htm >Once you get started you are going to need to increase frequently for the first couple of months. This is because you are chasing the decay in your T4 levels, and hence the reduction in your own T3 production with the increase in applied T3. Click here to help decide if you need an increase There are lots of things in that site that can get missed first time round, especially when brain fogged!
