Guest guest
Hi everyone! I am soon finishing my twelfth week on T3 only but I am not really feeling much better, and it worries me. When I started taking T3 I had been on synthetic T4 for about three weeks, I quit the T4 and took 10 mcg of T3 the first week. I then increased by 5 mcg twice every week and now I am taking 80 mcg. I don´t know about the quality of the T3 I am taking, I get it on prescription from my doctor and it is the only one that is available where I live. It is called Liothyronin and is made by Nycomed. I had my ferritin checked after about 2 weeks on T3 and it was then 62, I wasn´taking any iron when the test was done but the last couple of weeks I have taken 18 mg of chelated iron daily. I am on 20 mg hydrocortisone. I haven´t had my aldosterone tested. I tried drinking water with sea salt in it but I found the taste so disgusting that I just couldn´t drink it! I haven´t had any hyper symptoms so it seems like I am tolerating the T3. The T4 made me very nauseous, even at a very low dose, but I haven´t had that problem with T3. Please tell me there is hope and that I shouldn´t give up yet... If this treatment doesn´t work I don´t know what else to try. I believe I have very severe resistence, based on labs and symptoms. My ratio is 3,4. The free T3 and the rT3 were tested about a year apart but my symptoms were exactly the same on those two occasions so I believe it is quite accurate. Is it possible that it will take longer for me since my resistance is severe? Me and my doctor have decided that I should stay on 80 mcg T3 for 2 or 3 more weeks and see what happens. Do you think that that is a good idea? I would really appreciate your help!
