Guest guest
I'm not Val (obviously), but low TSH can hypopituitary and have nothing at all to do with your thyroid status. That's why you need to go by the free t3 and free t4 to really see where you're at. If you're hypopituitary, you won't produce a high TSH even if your free thyroid values are awful. Does that make sense? Don't worry about the TSH! :-) Kathleen > > Im on 20mcg cytomel and my TSH is 0.40 (range 0.40-4.50). My cortisol is fine (you've told me before) as are my electrolytes and my Ferritin is 22. Even if I get my ferritin up, isn't my TSH already too low? My doc seems to think so, but I still have many symptoms. What is your advice? Please help me...Im in despair. >

What is your advice? Please help me...Im in despair. That TSH is too HIGH if you are trying to treat RT3. you need to suppress TSH down to 0.1 or less in order to stop your thyroid producing yet more T4 which converts to RT3. The most relevant lab is FT3, that needs to be top of range or even a little over as you have no backup conversion from T4. You need to avoid taking T3 the morning of the blood draw otherwise you will get a false reading. Take them with you to the Drs and take them immediately after the blood draw. Guest guest
Low ferritin will ALSO cause a lowered TSH in many people. As you bring Ferrint up (it needs ot be 70-90) the TSH will also riswe showing the true hypothyroid state your body is in. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
Nick, I no longer have Rt3 issues. My rt3 issues came b/c I was on HC with an already high production of cortisol. My problem is now that on merely 20mcg cytomel I find that I can't raise and my tsh is low 0.40 (I don't want to go on natural thyroid b/c it has worsened a stomach emptying problem that I've had for years. my ferritin is 22 and my ft3 is 342 (230-420) free t4 0.6 (0.8-1.8) and with all this I still have hypo symptoms I really want to believe that its my ferritin that's holding everything back. Its interesting how my first week on cytomel I felt great, digestively and all, and now I feel absolutely nothing. > > >. Even if I get my ferritin up, isn't my TSH already too low? It will also give you hypo symptoms even if your FT3 was higher. You need to get that Ferritin up to sort out the next piece of the puzzle Nick
Guest guest
By taking 150 mg of elemental iron daily, how long will it take to get my ferritin up from 22 to 70? At which point should I test? Im stuck @ 20mcg of cytomel and can't raise right now because tsh is too low and i feel racy and can't sleep if I try to raise > > Low ferritin will ALSO cause a lowered TSH in many people. Guest guest
Val or Nick, Being that I take liothyronine @ 7am, 2pm, 6pm and 9pm, can I just take the 200mg of iron in one shot at 10:30am or is it dangerous to take so much iron at once? Thank you > > I woudl keep trying TINY increases every 2 weeks with the T3.
