KNOWS

THAT THERE ARE RISKS TO EVERYTHING. THE RISKS THAT YOU WILL GET INTO AN

STOMACH CANCER. WHAT ABOUT FLYING IN AN AIRPLANE? I AGREE WITH BLAIN, IN

SAYING THAT I WOULD RATHER RISK EVERYTHING THAN TO STAY THE WAY I AM,

THINKING THAT ONE DAY SOON MY CHILDREN WILL BE PUTTING ME IN THE GROUND,

BECAUSE I HAD DIED OF COMPLICATIONS DUE TO MORBID OBESITY! LET'S GET ON WITH

THE POSITIVE ASPECTS AND EXPECTATIONS OF WLS!

Kathy: First of all, why are you SCREAMING (in all caps)? The entire

discussion about cancer began when someone commented that a person on another

e-group mentioned a causality. and myself (as well as others) do not

necessarily take much stock in her opinions. I previously did not think

there was any relationship until I did some research. I shared what I found

with the group.

How is knowing that there is a *slight* increase in risk a negative aspect of

BPD/DS? I would much rather know about it, get properly screened and tested

as a part of my post-op medical follow up than be totally ignorant about it.

To me, being fully informed is a positive step in the direction of trying to

get the best medical care available!

If you read my posts at all, you'd see that I mentioned having this

information would be good for post-ops in order to get specific testing that,

as far as I know, is NOT part of the follow up care. No one is saying that

anyone should not have or should not have surgery. No one is saying that

anyone should 'chose' to remain morbidly obese rather than take a risk of

cancer complications down the road! Where did anyone get that from?

Take a deep breath and don't have a knee-jerk reaction to information that is

being shared in a positive light, IMHO! :)

all the best,

laparoscopic BPD/DS with gallbladder removal
