Guest guest
Well anybody, here are my labs, yikes. I am on 6 Grains of Nature-throid, 15mgs of cortef, and multi-vit, and Vit-D3. and still have chronic pain and hypo symtoms. So is it too much hormone, or reverse T3. For sure the iron, but can that really be my only big problem now? I was really looking for the reverse T3 as the biggest problem, but now I am not sure. I just went to the doctor on the and was going to start on 4 grains of NT and 25mg of compounded T3. Thyroxine (T4) Free, Direct, S 1.90 HIGH 0.82-1.77 ng/dL Reverse T3 417 HIGH 90-350 pg/mL Triiodothyronine,Free 5.0 HIGH 2.0-4.4 pg/mL Ferritin 5 LOW 10-291 ng/mL Thx, Ellen
Guest guest
Hi Ellen Your thyroid would not be getting any where with a ferritin like that. I don't know what your ratio is. But even my stupid doctor who does not go by ratio does not like it over 200. Your t4 is too high. You really need to start taking high doses of iron. Going by your t4 the naturethroid is not doing you any good. I would forget about compounded t3 and get mexican cynomel. It is cheaper and much more reliable than compounded. Nick and Val have a source list. Sky To: RT3_T3 Sent: Thu, 4 February, 2010 3:24:47 PMSubject: Labs In --Hmmm So is it too much hormone, or reverse T3. An FT4 over mid range tends to indicate an RT3 issue yours in over the top of the range! That T4 will be going straight to RT3 RT3 over range, definitely a problem. Regardless of FT3/RT3 ratio it being over range is a problem, FT3/RT3 ratio = 12 after moving decimal point. This should be at least 20. You have an RT3 issue Ferritin of 5!! I am amazed you are tolerating those 6 grains. You will need months of 150mg a day of elemental iron to bring that up or some iron IVs. You will need to bring Ferrtiin up, check temperatures are stable for adrenal checks, and swap onto T3 only for a few months. There is lots about it all here if you haven't found it yet www.thyroid-rt3.com Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to, Nick
