Guest guest
I just got the actual results: Sodium 140 (135-144 nmol/L) Potassium 4.0 (3.7-5.5 nmol/L) Chloride 102 (99-110 nmol/L) Calcium 9.9 (8.3-10.4 mg/dL) Serum aldosterone 17.2 ng/dL (4.0-31.0 ng/dL) Renin activity 2.0 (0.2-1.6 ng/mL/hr) (this was eating nothing with any added salt for 24 hrs previous) Potassium, WB 4.5 (3.7-5.5 mmol/L) Glucose 101 ((60-99) This was fasting, and the first time I have ever had an elevation. The lab was requested to do RBC potassium, I saw the requistion--but it appears they did WBC instead. Should I call and make them do it again? Guest guest
Your RBC is stil ow as I was told it shoudl be 70% of the range or slightly higher and that woudl put your levels needing to be at 4.96 for good intracellular levels so yes you could use some potassium. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
Thanks, Val. Glad you are feeling better. I'll ask my doctor for potassium. Is there nothing to be concerned about in the other results, especially the aldosterone/renin? I included the values again below. I'm feeling much much better after clearing RT3 at 13 weeks, and adding Isocort, but the bloating/weight gain problem hasn't budged and am still a little hypo at 100 mcg T3. Guest guest
Is the potassium dose the same as what you recommended with my previous labs? 20 Meq a day slow release... Thanks, Sherry Serum Potassium 4.0 (3.7-5.5 nmol/L) Potassium, WB 4.5 (3.7-5.5 mmol/L), you've said I should be at 4.96.
Guest guest
That is a good starting dose yes, but no one knows how your body wil use it so subsequent testing is needed. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
