Guest guest
I am suspicious of hypopituitarty issues for you. Are you stil on HC? From the one serum lab oyu ha I think you needed alo more than 20mg and the ACTH confirms secondry whch means your pituitary is nt functioning correctly. Thsi wil cause thyroid and sex hormones to also not be correct. YOu need to find a doctor that will treat and test ALL yoiur hormnes. That fasting glucose of 50 in 2008 is a scary number. in the 50's you are hypoglycemic and actually havign brain damage from it. This could have caused your pituitry to malfunction. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
Thank you SO much Val for replying. Here are some more tests: ACTH stim, May 09: Cortisol Basal 11.1 Cortisol Reference Range: AM = 3.4-26.9, PM = 0.9-15.8 Cortisol 30 min 24.6 Cortisol 60 min 25.3 InterpretationACTHST ACTH Stimulation Test normal response to cortrosyn: An absolute incrememt of 8 ug/dL and a peak value of at least 18 ug/dL. Blood: ACTH 14 8-42 pg/mL FYI: I drank coffee at 6:30am, drove 3 1/2 hrs for the stim test, and the test was done at 11am) august 2 09 24hr cortisol saliva: A: 3.9 (ref range 3.7-9.5) B: 2.5 (1.2-3.0) C: 1.5 (.6-1.9) D: .9 (.4-1.0) (last draw was at 6:30 PM, I did not know how to do the saliva test. Also drank coffee after my first test) Sex hormones, saliva, before I began having a cycle. August 2 09 estradiol 1.1 (ref range 1.3-3.3) Progesterone 67 (75-270) Ratio pg/E2 61 (Optimal 100-500 wen E2 1.3-3.3) Test, 12 (16-55) dhea 4.9 (2-23) Blood sex hormones: DHEA-S 88.9 ref. range: 41.0-247.0 ug/dL Testosterone 34 ref. range: 20-70 ng/dL Testosterone Free % 1.1 ref. range: 0.3-1.9 % Testosterone Free 3.9 ref.range: 1.0-9.0 pg/mL dr gave me this for my hormones: Test: .6 strength, 1 mL in the AM. Cream. 6 days out of 7 per week. Estrogen: Biest, cream. the tube says " .1(1:1) MG/ML " I was to use 1mL in the AM 6 days out of 7. Dhea: bhrt, 5 mg every day in the AM pill Progesterone, bhrt: pill form, 100 mg each. Directions: 1 hr before bed take 1 pill on days 5-11 of cycle; 1 hr before bed take 2 pills days 12-26 of cycle. I had very bad reactions to these hormones, suicidal, and very depressed, dr put me off them and gave me cortef. I had an MRI w/w/o contrast: FINDINGS: There is a 3-mm focus of diminished enhancement in the anterior pituitary gland just to the right of midline on image number 9 of the thin section postcontrast coronal series, also seen on image 7 of the thin section sagittal postcontrast series. The pituitary infundibulum is deviated slightly to the left. This lesion does not expand the gland or compress the optic chiasm. There is no extension into the cavernous sinus. No enhancing lesion is seen in the brain parenchyma. Volume, signal, and morphology of the cerebral and cerebellar hemispheres appear normal. The cerebellar tonsils do not extend below the foramen magnum. The ventricular and sulcal configurations are appropriate for the patient's age. IMPRESSION: 3-mm focus of diminished enhancement in the anterior pituitary gland, which may represent a microadenoma. No compression of the optic chiasm or extension into the cavernous sinus. I am not on h/c right now. Should I re-test my acth/blood cortisol, the saliva 4x, or both? My fasting bs this morning was 123. My ferritin is low, 15. ALL vitamins are below range or normal low, nothing was even mid-level. btw, I am 24 yrs old.. > > I am suspicious of hypopituitarty issues for you. Guest guest
Have you tried magnesium? Magnesium oxide worked best when I needed it, which is one others on this list don't like. It's not the best for bringing up magnesium levels, but can relieve constipation. --Irene > >. major constipation, no BM for over 2 weeks at a time. Guest guest
Hi , I see that you are getting great responses and help so far. Looking back on my own history, I can see how the worst of my eating disorder must have helped throw me into what I now think was my first episode of RT3 problems. I know for me that my eating disorder was a result of extremely stressful and depressing situations in my life, which I believe can chew up one's physical health. I am vitually certain that a series of profoundly stressful occurances threw me into the problem I am having now. So, I believe that resolving stressful situations is very important in recovering from thyroid resistance. *That's* the only useful feedback I can give. Be gentle with yourself. Pam > > complex history, but will get to the point. had amenorrhea for 8 years (eating disorder, went long durations of eating low cals, NO fat, NO carbs, just egg whites, chicken breast, ff cottage cheese, etc. 4-6 hours of exercise a day) so when I began eating more and exercising less, and gained weight, nothing has ever been the same sense. in any case, here is a quick overview of my labs: > > May 2008: > TSH, 3rd generation 1.67 (ref. range .40-4.50) > t-4, free .8 (ref range .8-1.8 ) > Cortisol 10.3 (4.0-22) > t3, free 154L (230-420) > ACTH, plasma 5 (5-27) > Glucose, 50 > Thyroglobulin <20 (range says <20 IU/mL) > Thyroid Peroxidase <10 (range <35 IU/mL) > t3, reverse 25 (11-32) > > August 2009: > TPO <10 (range <35) > T4, Free .9 (.8-1.8) > TSH 1.96 (.40-4.50) > T3, Free 240 (230-420) > > > October 2009: > tsh: 2.940 > t4, free: .81 (.82-1.77) > Reverse t3: 195 (90-350) > t3, free 2.1 (2.0-4.4) > > So then I took compounded t4/t3 (50mg or mcg whatever it is, and 1 mg t3 slow release) and after 2 weeks (too quick I know, but I felt horrible) these were my labs: (was on hc, 20 mg) > > tsh 1.460 (.450-4.500) > t3, free 1.9 (2.0-4.4) > t4, free .93 (.82-1.77) > > Now I have been on erfa for one month, first 1/2 grain now 1 grain. I am gaining weight, I was 143 now 154. Hair is falling out much more and everytime I take erfa I fall asleep for about 2 hours. More info: > > Many symptoms since I had tonsils adnoids removed at age 11 (I started my period the next day after the surgery), always fatigued, heavy bleeding, long cylces (2 weeks), my skin is dark naturally and now I am pale, bruise easily, and cannot tan. my face, hands, feet, are orange. hair is falling out and losing colour, turning grey. it's going from black to reddish brown and losing pigmentation entirely. i cant sleep thru the night, i lose muscle easily. acne on chin. major constipation, no BM for over 2 weeks at a time. extreme fatigue. amenorrhea for 8 years until I started sex hormones. can't finish anything I start. insulin resistant.. the list goes on.. > > Why am I having such a horrid reaction? I am more constipated, gaining weight (never had this problem before, even when my ft3 was much lower). just cant take this anymore. I thought the thyroid would make me feel better but I feel worse and fat. is it the t4 to blame, in your opinion?? its looks like i have a tumor my abdomen is so distended, every time i take thyroid. >
