Maybe my up from 7.5 mg HC to 10 mg HC now as the first morning dose makes me extra sleepy? This thing started when I started doing my bedtime T3 dose sublingually. I feel good when I wake up. But I always feel sleepy after my first morning dose of T3. It's so weird! Thought T3 was supposed to make you feel awake! COULD be the HC along making me feel like this!?I wonder why I feel so awake when I wake up at 10 am, but sleepier (much sleepier) at noon after taking my first dose of T3 for the day! Hmmmm. Maybe I really need to take everything sublingually! ?__

Hmm... What if sublingually absorption is worse than my stomach absorption? Doubt it, but.. :)Can I try this tomorrow with the first T3 dose of 10 mcg after i wake up?What do you guys think about my HC schedule now:107.57.55.02.52.5=30 mg HC

That adds up to 35mg of HC, not the 30mg that you wrote.

I upped to 35 in the past few days....... To avoid getting too much adrenaline when taking 50 mcg T3! Thought T3 was supposed to make you feel awake! COULD be the HC along making me

feel like this!?

Could there be a lack of cortisol for the utilisation of that morning

T3?

If the cortisol levels get pulled down by the T3 then you will feel

tired.

A lof of messing about but now you are on doses of 10 mcg you could

take twice the number of 5mcg doses instead to see if that's kinder on

your adrenals.

Take them sublingually and they won't get in the way of the iron.

Something like 5mcg every hours and a half instead of 10 every hour.

This is not an increase, just a timing change

That might tell you if you have adrenal issues still

Well it will be a mess taking T3 10 times daily but worth a try right? Also, should I take HC before my morning dose of T3?Today something weird happened. I lost my appetite while eating dinner. Never happened in my life! Is this from taking too much HC or T3?

Is it too fast going up from 27.5 mg HC to 35 mg HC in just 3-4 days?I feel strange now - Like my mind is changed. In a bad way. I have a very strange feeling in my head... :P Guess it can be HC?

I will try the T3-split mayhem tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what happens.Today I increased my HC to 35 mg. I changed the first dose from 7.5 mg to 10 mg. I took it a few minutes, like mabe 10 minutes or so, before I took my T3. Haven't really had any "tickling" feeling in my heart today. So maybe an increase in HC was what I needed? Who knows.Right now I am baffled about my change in mood, and mental state. I feel extremely weird in my head. Some pressure, some sleepiness, but what's worse is a feeling that I am not me! :P This is a brand New symptom. Can this come from upping HC too fast? This is something I would like to find out about. I am asking you guys because you have more HC experience than I have!I was on 27.5 mg HC 4 days ago. Today I am on 35 mg HC. Is this too fast of an

increase? Should I go down immediately or what? I _think_ increasing HC is not so dangerous, but, I am not an expert, so..

Thanks for the conceren! :) And thanks for pointing it out for me anyway! Nice to know people are sticking up for each other on here! I already knew that though.. :)I have no idea if it has helped me taking more HC. I feel better with the heart in a way, but I feel much worse in my head today. I did change the HC doses a lot in the past 2-3 days, up from 27.5 mg to 35 mg. And I chanced the first dose from 7.5 to 10 mg, and the third dose from 5.0 to 7.5 mg. What a mess! :P>I wonder why I feel so awake when I wake up at 10 am, but sleepier (much sleepier) at noon after taking my first dose of T3 for the day! Hmmmm. , I'm just wondering why you're waiting until noon to take your first T3 dose of the day. That means you're making your body go without thyroid hormone since the previous night's dose. And since T3 has a short half-life - 8 to 12 hours according to the article at http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/dommisse.htm.

Maybe the reason you're getting so sleepy by noon is that the T3 from your last bedtime dose of the previous day is finally running out and your body is starting to crash?

I have been "nocturnal" sine I was 13-14... I go to bed late.. Usually around 3-6 am. However, lately I've fallen asleep "earlier" at maybe 2-3 am. So... I take T3 sublingually at 2 am, then, the morning dose of T3 at maybe 11 am. Thanks to Nick, I now get T3 sublingually which makes me less hypo thru the night! :-)Thanks for your concern though, !>I wonder why I feel so awake when I wake up at 10 am, but sleepier (much sleepier) at noon after taking my first dose of T3 for the day! Interesting detail though:I did my fourth, and second last T3 dose of the day, 20 mcg, sublingually. After 30 or so minutes, I felt much more awake, and now 1+ hour  later, I still feel AWAKE. So I guess sublingually works MUCH better for me. WHY tho???On a BAD note: I got that "ticklish" feeling in my heart again. It can't be from low cortisol since I take 35 mg HC daily now compared to 27.5 mg HC daily a few days ago. Hmmmm. Can this be low Ferritin, making T3 too hard on my heart or something?I hate this tickling feeling in my heart. Reminds me of the fib I had 2 years ago. :-(

Sublingually definitely works better than swallowing!

When you take the T3 sublingually, it is absorbed into your bloodstream through the small capillaries in your mouth. When you swallow it, it has to go through the digestive process, which subjects it to stomach acid and also the metabolizing action of the liver. This means you actually get less of the helpful T3 hormone by swallowing the med rather than taking it sublingually.

You can read more about this at http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/sublingual/.

I don't want to say "I told you so," or "we told you so," but...... :-)

They're now calling that behavior "Teenage 'night owl' syndrome."

Basically, even though the sun is on a 24 hour schedule, our bodies are on a 24-hour-plus-six-minute schedule. According to the article at http://articles.latimes.com/2010/feb/17/science/la-sci-students17-2010feb17, this "night-owl syndrome" is caused by students not getting enough bright light during the day to set their circadian rhythms correctly. The light deficiency causes them to go to bed six minutes later day after day until at some point their schedule is completely out of whack. I'm sure this also happens with adults, as we drive to work before full daylight and spend our days possibly in offices or cubicles or even stay at home inside of our houses all day long, never leaving until after the sun has already started to set.

I had this problem severely before I discovered my RT3 issue. I felt like I was finally getting my day's dose of energy at around 10 p.m. I would finally force myself to go to bed around 4 a.m. just because I knew that my alarm was going to go off before I had enough hours to sleep! (My work day is supposed to start at 8:30 a.m. and I have to allow an hour for the rush-hour commute.) I was told by several wise folks on the Natural Thyroid Hormones and other groups that it was a sign of adrenal problems.

Once I started on the T3-only treatment, I've seen the late night burst of energy stop. Now I get tired much earlier. The only problem is that I've now developed a habit of staying up later (like tonight) feeling a stress to get more work done.

From your note below, it sounds like the T3 treatment is starting to have a similar effect on your sleep schedule, sending you to bed a bit earlier. I think if we "gave in" when we first felt tired and went straight to bed, the whole "night owl" issue might resolve itself.

I say this to both you and to myself, since I've had similar issues! :-)

Do you usually sleep until around 11 a.m.? If not, what time do you wake up?

Just wanted to ask real quickly:

Do I have to split my HC into 10 doses as well, when I try taking T3 in 10 x 5 mcg doses today instead of 5 x 10 mcg? Also, do I do them all sublingually at once?

There is no reaosn ot take HC every time you take T3. Some people need

to dose HC closer together when they have no cortisdol reserves, btu

once those are reestablished HC dosing shoudl be soread otu to 4-6 doses

a day and if oyu are taking enough that shoul dbe plenty.

Thanks . I feel T3 is getting absorbed better when I do it sublingually, so I was wondering about the HC doses if my adrenals would take the hit harder when doing T3 sublingually! But do you know if I should do all my T3 doses sublingually or if I should try one at a time? So far I now do the last 2 doses in the evening (including bedtime dose) sublingually. I can take more iron like this - Like you said a while ago! :-)HC schedule: (pretty much 3 hours apart except from the last two small doses which are closer together)107.57.552.52.5

Hi and thanks for your answer!Yup. Feel like a teenager. I am 31, but I just can't let go of living like I'm 19! I lost all my teenage years, and I really feel like I am younger than my age, cause of that lost time. However, I now UNDERSTAND that I shouldn't like like that anymore, so I have gradually started to change my sleeping pattern. Up til 2008, I never ever went to bed before 6 am. It was mostly 6 am, or after. I flipped the day and the night every other day, and had NO steady sleeping pattern. I could go to bed at noon, and sleep til midnight! Or wake up at 6 pm and go to bed at 6 pm the next evening. I really tried to "Live my life!" and had as much fun as possible, due to those lost teenage years! I never accepted that I was sick thru my teens, or even in the next 10 years! I have been filled with bitterness and wanted to wash that

feeling away with FUN! I did have periods with work and school, and I stayed in both with no problems. I was feeling fine for 10 years between 1997 and 2007 on T4 only, later T4/T3 only. Then hell started in 2008 and I've been stuck there ever since. These days, I get much more sleepy closer to midnight. And I can technically go to bed at midnight. But all too often, I am sitting up til 3 am because I am sad, forcing myself to try to have some kind of fun before I go to bed. I now have the chance to go to bed earlier. My body is pulling me towars the bed at midnight instead of pushing me to stay awake towards 6-7-8-9 in the morning. That's how it should be - One should get sleepy around midnight!I usually put my alarm to ring at 11 am these days. But in the past 2-3 days, I've woken up "naturally" at around 9:45-10:00 or so because I've been doing T3 sublingually.I know I have to start giving in the what my

body tells me to do...They're now calling that behavior "Teenage 'night owl' syndrome."
