Guest guest
OK I am hoping 3rd time will be a charm. I have sent this twice and hasn't shown up. Hi, my name is Vicki. I was dx'd with Breast Cancer last March 23, 2005. I had a Modified Radical Mastectomy on April 5, 2005, 5 positive nodes of 16 removed, I am ER/PR- , Her2/neu +++ . I have gone thru 4 xAC Dose Dense Treatments, 4 X Abraxane Dose Treatments. I had 28 radiation treatments. I am getting Herceptin Infusions every week for my HER2+, I have to do this for a year. My treatments for that will finished this coming September. This past December, 9 months after my dx, I had a mammogram done on remaining breast (left side) I had highly increased Micro Calcifications, was sent back to the surgeon for biopsy, I said NO, I want it removed, So this past January 17, 2006, I had a Simple Mastectomy done on my left side. I have opted not to any reconstruction as I don't want any more surgery. I can say going thru Chemo and Rad's was not so bad for me I tolerated it very well. I did have a few queasy day's during the AC part, none during the Abraxane. Herceptin has caused a few annoying symptoms, I have aches and bone pain, runny nose and a feeling of tirdness, but these are all doable. I do have pain med's for any real break thru pain. I have to Echo's done every 3 months while taking Herceptin and all has been good so far, no heart problems. I can say I now FINALLY have enough hair to go without my wig. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and I just love it. Guest guest
Welcome Vicki!!! (and fellow "herceptinite") Sounds like you've had your fill for a while...I had bilateral mastectomy June 2004, followed by A/C/Taxol, 6 weeks radiation/ and just started weekly Herceptin (Her/neu2++) January 6, 2006. That runny nose is a pain, but pretty much uneventful compared to the chemo drugs. So glad to hear your hair is coming in and you're comfortable wearing just that...it's such a pleasure, especially with the nicer weather. A great group here and I'm sure you'll like them! Guest guest
Hi Vicki, Looks like your post came thru finally. Your post reminds me it's time to call for my mammogram. I had a left mastectomy and AC dose dense and am doing a year of Herceptin. I am suppose to have a 6-mo. mammogram of my right side, which has had microcalcifications before. Even had a biopsy several years ago which turned out to be benign. Welcome to the group. - JVK105@... wrote on 4/12/2006, 8:10 PM: OK I am hoping 3rd time will be a charm.
