Hi

I'm a also! Which doctor are you trying to use? I am a federal

employee who is now in the process of switching insurances. I had heard bad

things about BC/BS so I was worried about selecting them and was going to

select GEHA. Do you know for sure there were people who had the ds with fed

BC/BS. The verbage in the booklet says they will pay for gastric bypass and

gastric stapling for the treatment of morbid obesity. They won't say they

will do duodenal switch. When I called them today they said they will only

precertify the hospital admission and that they review the operative notes

afterwards to see if it is covered. Dang this whole thing is making me crazy.

Jim: If Baltimore is more convenient for you, why not try Dr.

s's office? I had a good UHC plan, so I don't know what contact or luck

s has had, if any, with your insurance company, but it might be worth

checking out. Here's his contact info:

Dr. s

Chief of Orthopedic Surgery - TeamOrthopedist - Baltimore Orioles

(I think this might be formerly)

Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery- s Hopkins University

Good Samaritan Hospital (Rehab Center is jointly run with s Hopkins)

Bldg. - Room 405

5601 Loch Raven Blvd.

Baltimore, MD 21239

Contact: Sharon O'Shaughnessy;

or Shirley Panopoulos, x4767

Good luck,

Maureen

I have had not trouble with Dr. Mont's office. Both the doctor

and his staff have been fine. They got my insurance approval and

the Dr. has been in contact with me personally. I think it is

possible that a person may have a bad experience, it happens some-

times. Most people do not. My surgery is set for March 27th and

the staff has been quite nice.

Lois

Which Doctor?

I'm new to this site but not to resurfacing. Because of a motorcycle

accident

I need a new hip. I've been in touch with Chuck at JRI. My plan was to

go there but because I have Blue Cross of California there seems to be a

reluctance on their part to help. So I've searched these archives the last

few days to see where else to go.

Dr Mont seems to be the best choice as a surgeon but I question his support

staff. Others have complained about being ignored or waiting for long

periods

for a response from his office. Then I read about the poor guy in san

francisco who had his appeal cancelled because of no response from Dr Mont's

office. It seems like the fellow this happened to thinks that Mont never

received the message. What if he did and just doesn't want to deal with Blue

Cross or out of state patients. If you're reading this, did Mont call you to

explain? It seems to me that such a horrendous oversight should have been

followed by a personal call and apology from the Dr. Unless of course my

assumptions are right and he's just ignoring you. Then again maybe he just

has no idea what's going on in the office because he's so busy. He seems an

incredibly talented surgeon according to this site but if he has such

communication problems perhaps he's not the one to go to. I guess the next

best would be to head up north to Dr Boyd in Oregon. There seems to be more

positive feedback coming from his office. And when I called there they

seemed

very helpful and forthright. Any thoughts on this subject would be

appreciated.
